    HLT Controller

I assume you mean the EU standard electrical supply is 220V so its almost certainly that they have been designed to be 10A ones, rather than they are planning for us to rip them apart and attach them to an STC-1000

    HLT Controller

Well partly to see if these are a viable unit and bear in mind the STC-1000 is 10A unit so with a 2.4kw element I'd be operating at the top end of its rating, where as this unit is a 16A one. Also the timer is built in and has a battery backup so if there is a power cut in the night then so long...

    HLT Controller

It had its first brewday usage today. I set it to come on at 6:45 and bring the water to 78.5°C at 7:30 when I got up the mash water was at strike. It reads around half a degree high and over shoots due to a little lag in registering the increased temperature from heating. I checked the...

    Tapatalk for Windows 8

Well I've just found that there is a Windows 8 version of Tapatalk available in the Windows App Store. I knew they were working on one and that its been available for Win 8 RT but I didn't know they had released a full Windows 8 version. Anyway, it works fine on my laptop running Win 8.1...

Coffee a new adventure for me

They are only a snob if the look down on the people who are happy with their instant. Even within the people who use espresso machines there is snobbery, my DeLonghi is regarded by some as a bit of a toy in comparison to Gaggia and so on. Personally the important thing to me is that my coffee...

Coffee a new adventure for me

We have a filter machine and I usually buy Lavazza for the office. Its not bad but what I drink at home knocks spots off.

Coffee a new adventure for me

I'm a cheapskate and have a Hario Mini Slim hand grinder, I use a DeLonghi Espresso machine which uses pressurised baskets. I have to set the grinder to 3 clicks off the finest or it produces a shot of espresso that takes too long. It does require manual work to grind the coffee but at about...

    Lambing Live

I think that Kate Humble is very easy on the eye and when she says something like "As usual I'm absolutely filthy" that just makes it worth watching :D I agree that it dumbs it down somewhat but still interesting, my Chocolate Labrador found the barking sheep dogs very engaging!

    NTC probes

The controller I'm using has one and its stated as NTC B=3380 10k @25degrees Celsius It would be useful for me to get one that could be mounted and I'm looking at this which quotes Parameters: R25 ℃ = 10K B25/50 ℃ = 3950K Are they all the same? The 10K @ 25°C seems common to them all so...

    Home brew for vegetarians

The few wine kits I've done included some kind of fining (clearing) agent. If there are is any animal matter to be found in a kit then I think you'll find it in them. I agree that you would be well advised contacting the manufacturers.

    HLT Controller

Well having seen the BCY07H temperature controllers on Ebay I decided to take the plunge and try one as an HLT controller. 1st thing to say is that its limited to 95°C so won't do a boiler. It arrived a few days ago (I paid £14.58) My first thought was that it would mount into a pattress...
