    Kombucha

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.. there used to be a kombucha thread but I can't find it now. So my question is can I make a 40 bottle batch of kombucha like I do for beers using all the same equipment? And, moreover, is a internet bought scooby man enough to do the job? Thanks in advance!

Summer Brew Review Thread - Golden Ale

A review here for @Hazelwood Brewery 's summer ale. This was an excellent pint! Upon opening it seemed slightly over carbed and there was a little 'expansion' but nothing to worry about and nothing that detracted from the enjoyment. It poured with a small amount of sediment but was pretty...

Summer Brew and Swap - British Golden Ale

So I understand from one of the other recipients. I promise I sent them! I'm really disappointed and I just hope they are delayed and not lost for good. If they aren't received, I'll send you a bonus Hefewiezen each, sadly I have no more of the golden ale. I don't know how all three could...

Summer Brew Review Thread - Golden Ale

First to try for me was @Tess Tickle ... A really good golden ale. Opens with a healthy fizz, gives a nice head and good lacing. Quite strong flavoured... No bad thing, I would love to know what hop that is (in fact if you could post the recipe that would be good!). I have a feeling it's the...

    When do I pick hops?

Superb! Thank you. Then what? 🤣 I've heard putting them in a paper bag to dry out is a good idea?

    When do I pick hops?

These are in my garden looking awesome, how do I know when to take them off the plant? Thanks knowledgeable collective 🤓

Summer Brew and Swap - British Golden Ale

I've just sent mine out 1st class; post office gentleman informed me that Royal Mail workers are on strike tomorrow, and obviously it is a bank holiday on Monday (they won't go out until then). So I hope you get them soon! Also worth mentioning they are bottle conditioned, so chuck em in the...

Summer Brew and Swap - British Golden Ale

I have three left to swap, and am to be congratulated on my self restraint. I honestly have been wording the 'actually I can't' message in my head but here we are. Who'd have thought it at this late stage of the game? 🤣

Summer Brew and Swap - British Golden Ale

Not to upset anyone here, but this isn't a competition, it's a swap. The clue is the title of the thread; and in any case this beer won't be so far removed from style. It'll be great!

Summer Brew and Swap - British Golden Ale

My EKGoldy has been in the bottle for 9 days now, it's tasting fine! I think it'll end up a good beer, but I don't think it'll go bright as a button... I may have been a bit heavy handed with the dry hop so it will retain the haze I think.

    The Undrinkables

I made a dark beer and dry hopped it with chai tea, the plan being to have a spicy finish to Christmas fireside pint. It was awful, and I wish I hadn't added anything to it. It would have been a perfectly good beer without! I think I got the idea after having success dry hopping a summer ale...

Ways of eliminating oxygen contact when dry hopping

I read this in the voice of the British police officer from Allo Allo. I've had the same thought, does a smaller hop bag still allow the dry hop to be as effective?

Ways of eliminating oxygen contact when dry hopping

@Session I like option 1! I might try that next time around. I've often thought of plastic welding or silicone an upside down smaller bucket on the lid, then having the airlock at the top, so that the airlock doesn't get clogged with froth and the hops stay dry until they're dropped.
