    Sterilisation of Bottles

A good wash and rinse after use and drained/dried on a bottle tree. On bottling day I use a rinser same as post #10 above half filled with none rinse sanitiser. Give them a few plunges on the rinser and hang them back on the bottling tree to drain before being refilled. I give the bottling...

Mangrove Jacks Brewers Series 40 Pint Pilsner Fermenting Temperature?

All the MJ kits I've brewed have stated 20 - 25 in the instructions and they've all fermented with no issues at 22. That said they've all come with M44 yeast. Did your kit come with M54 yeast? If so...... Usage Directions: Sprinkle directly on up to 23 L (6 US Gal) of wort. For best results...

Would you still vote for Brexit?

The media preached for three and a half years that the UK had changed its mind and wanted to remain in the EU. Then the 2019 election proved the polar opposite. I honestly thought there would be an exodus to the LibDems after their manifesto pledged to scrap brexit but look what happened.

MJ craft series pils kit advice

My MJ Pale Ale kit (40 pints @ 4.4% abv) brewed with 1Kg of dextrose and 500g of DME came out at 5% abv. No extra yeast! Malt extract will add more body and sweetness whereas dextrose will make a thinner, drier beer. There's no right or wrong, just personal preference. I believe the saaz...

OK to add treacle to Stout just before bottling?

I used 100g black treacle to prime 21 litres of Cooper's stout. After eight weeks it's nicely carbonated with just a hint of treacle taste.

    Best drink drunk?

Irish pub in Dortmund, Germany. Pint glass: half Guiness, half champagne with Tia Maria.

    Cascade hops

I dry hopped a MJ craft series pale ale with 50g of cascade and it turned out a nice, fruity and tasty ale. 500g of dextrose and 500g light spray malt. I've ordered another of the same kit to try with Jester hops.

    Bottleing Nelsons Revenge

I've found the size varies in the same packet. I only use them when bottling straight from a PF.

    Bottleing Nelsons Revenge

I sampled a Wherry last night bottled on 18 September with one drop per 500ml bottle. Nice head, good head retention and just enough fizz (for me).

    Ale too fizzy

If I don't want too much fizz I find one carbonation drop in a 500ml bottle just right.

Mangrove Jacks Single Hop Simcoe IPA review

I had this with an Evil Dog IPA in 500ml bottles and batch primed. Some bottles gushed and some didn't. The gushers had a slight off flavour compared to the others so I put it down to some bottles not being properly sanitized but I'm usually very careful.

    Slugs

Slug pellets do the job well. They contain methiocarb so use with caution.

    Old peculiar

I did similar with my last brew after reading on here that DME dissolved better in warm water than in boiling water. No more chasing lumps around the fermenter:laugh8:

Mangrove Jacks Single Hop Simcoe IPA review

Very nice! I've been doing MJ kits too and appreciate the review, thanks. I've got an MJ American IPA 7 days in the fermenter with 1.2kg MJ LME. I'm tempted to tweak with Jester hops but think I'll stick to the supplied pellets for the first time.

    1 can Vs 2 can?

I do both. With the premium kits I brew to the instructions and mix it up a bit with singles. I like to hunt out a bargain tin or pouch occasionally then look what fermentables I have lying around or can find cheap. I ordered a couple of Richies Simply range kits for £9.95 each from B2B and...

Oak Homebrew Beer kits - 5/19/23/25 Ltr Full Grain kits - Ideal for beginners and smaller bellies

Three weeks after bottling I've sampled one and it seems my first attempt at AG is a success. Good head and retention, pleasant tasting and nice mouth feel. I had a nightmare bottling after discovering my syphon wouldn't fit in the neck of the demijohn....doh....so improvised with a tube and...

    Mangrove Jacks Hard Seltzer

The appeal for me is the low calorie, low sugar content as I'm brewing it for my wife who is diabetic as mentioned in the OP. When I told her those who like a fruity drink have less sophisticated pallets and are only scratching the itch in their monkey brains for sweetness and fruit she...

    Mangrove Jacks Hard Seltzer

Mangrove Jacks is a New Zealand based operation with the same drinking age as the UK but I get your point and the US. When I lived in Germany it was common to see people ordering draft beer and spooning fruit into it. I never tried it in 12 years but I'm not keen on sugary flavours in...

    Mangrove Jacks Hard Seltzer

Thank you for taking the time to explain. I completely missed the instructions page on your website. I've ordered the pineapple flavour to try and looking forward to the results. I'm away from home the week before Christmas so it should keep mrs happy.
