internet connections - up/down speeds and are you happy with what you're paying for

i'm on a 'unlimited fibre extra' connection from plusnet (with a static IP). paying £25 a month inc line rental. none of the sports packages required or included. average around 49 Mbs down and 19 Mbs up. had a couple of glitches earlier in the year which took connection down for an hour or so...

kit ABV - leaning towards the higher side

doing a bad cat imperial red ale currently. stock it should be 7.5%. with some tweaking i have it up to after 14 days which is rather robust. any of you do something similar? i short filled to 19L and bunged in a reasonable amount of brewing sugar.

    pressure barrel/keg needed

not going through a body breaking bottling session again so looking to stick the currently fermenting brew into a pressure barrel/keg. i'f like to spend £50 or less if possible. this one from wilko has been mentioned a couple if times. if that's a good buy then what CO2 setup would i require...

unexpected kit - young's harvest stout

i had ordered a munton's gold stout kit. for various reasons, which i won't go into here, i've ended up with a young's harvest stout kit. 30 pints. i would be shortfilling it so 23 pints. don't think it's worth my while. has anyone brewed this one?

36 bottles of beer on the wall

well 36 bottles of beer in 500ml beer bottles. i'm done in. amid the madness the hose came off my bottling wand skooshing me in the face and leaving the remainder soaked into my right slipper. blister inside right thumb from screwing caps on and off. back is jiggered. this is the evil dog IPA...

    Munton's Gold Imperial Stout

order the above today. very few threads devoted to this one and the most recent i can see is 2 years old. anyone had experience with it? it'll be my first stout (first that i've made. have certainly quaffed plenty). will be shortfilling it to 19L as i always do with kits such as this. will also...

    mixed feelings about bottling

got another day before i bottle my first big brew. 21L of evil dog double IPA. have only ever dealt with siphoning single gallons before and this is rather daunting. there's only me and there's very little space. using mostly 700ml spirits bottles which i've washed and sanitised (too lazy to...

    new ispindel!

quite new to brewing. long time fan of gadgetry. so enter the ispindel. just got it connected up and configured to report to ubidots but still have to do the calibration (which will happen tomorrow if i, gasp, have enough sugar). the temperature of my brew cupboard isn't great (have heatpads...

    procrastinated for 30 years

but got there eventually. i remember my father making wine from practically anything/everything in the late 70s. i'm now past 40 and only in the last 6 months have a starting attempting fermenting. only done a single red wine kit and 5 batches of sugar wine ( a gallon each batch) but i have an...
