Hi all, I've got myself into a muddle trying to work out my additives. I'm going to be brewing a neipa at the weekend so i understand i require a chloride rich water profile, so I'll add calcium chloride. It's the ratio's where i start to get confused, am i meant to add Gypsum for sulphate...
Having this from CW whilst I put the rest of my bottles of my brew in the fridge. Has half a ton of trub in it, but tastes lovely, huge hit of citra. Cheers all 🍻
First brew that I controlled fermentation temperature and did basic water chemistry and it’s turned out very decent (for my standards) Subtle mango/pineapple flavours and aroma. Picture makes it look darker than it is.
I'll do this check tonight with my thermometer although I'm fairly certain the fridge was cooling whilst it was on, as it did feel cold inside. What would be my next step? Thank you!
Hi CP, so i plugged the fridge in and all was working for around an hour or so and then stopped.. do you know what could be the issue? No worries if not. Cheers!
The local micropub had Putty on draft so had to nab a few pints takeaway
.
Then moved on to this Neon Raptor, smelt and tasted like quavers, rough. With the NZ hop line up, I thought it would be a win.
You are right and I've been looking for a used fridge but none so far have been local enough. A family member is getting rid of a broken fridge, hence my question. But i'll continue to keep an eye out for a working one. Cheers mate
Cheers both @Galena @StJayJay
That makes sense. Only really useful in winter months I guess then. I only really brew ales and the odd stout so I could get away with it.
this might be a very stupid question but i'll ask anyway.
Does the fridge need to work to be able to use it? Could you use the heater and ink bird and still control the temperature?
