    Foaming Beer

It does but I wasn't sure it wasn't just there to inject. I think it'll be fine, just took me by surprise. Never had that before.

    Foaming Beer

I have just transferred the contents of my fermentation bin (Muntons Old English Bitter) to King Keg but I am concerned because when I put the syphon in to do the transfer there was a pretty vigorous foaming around the column of the syphon - actually fizzing! I suspected a contamination but I...

    Conditioning question.

This is the only kit I've had this instruction with and, although I have a bottling bucket, other than being able to incorporate the priming sugar directly into the whole volume of liquid and get it off the trub,I found no advantage. Make up a solution with boiling water and the appropriate...

What is worth watching on TV?

You're missing a trick if you don't watch Breaking Bad and it's spin-off, Better Call Saul which is, arguably, even better IMHO. Great telly!

    What are you reading ?

Well the criteria fit me perfectly so I guess I'd better try to get hold of a copy! Current reading though is The Mirror and The Light by Hilary Mantel

    PH Meter

Showing my ignorance once again but what do you use a pH meter for other than making sure your Starsan is still effective? I presume this is a grain brewing thing?

    Bottled water

I don't have enough knowledge to challenge your assertion on a technical basis but I always use bottled water since I noticed that you can actually smell the chlorine in our tap water. Since I started using bottled water I have noticed a more vigorous fermentation in my brews and no problems...

    Schrader valve

I'm toying with the idea of doing this, how do you fit them? Is it just a matter of drilling an appropriate size hole and putting a nut on the back?

From brew-day to bottling, what's your average elapsed number of days?

I tend to use the 2+2+2 model but it doesn't always make the final 2!

    Proportional representation

It could happen but it would need Labour, Lib Dems, Greens and anybody else they could muster to agree not to contest constituencies where others had the best chance on the basis it was a one off to produce PR. Unlikely, but not impossible.

Single Transferable Vote. Single transferable vote - Wikipedia Note really what I think of PR but this is brilliant IMO -

Recommend me a beer kit 🍺

Beerworks Sheepdog's Pride Suffolk Bitter from Lovebrewing is what came in the kit I bought when I restarted my brewing career earlier in the year and I love it. I've made it twice, one brew kegged, one bottled, both equally impressive. I have tried a variety of others since but I've just...

    Screwtop beer bottles

These seem to be the norm on the continent and having acquired a collection of Perlembourg lager bottles I have used them for a number of brews with no problem at all. Just sanitise 'em and screw 'em back on again!

    What did you learn today?

That my tap water contains 20 mg/l of chlorine!

    Directors - Quick question

This is interesting. I brewed this kit according to the instructions. I assumed that this was a form of batch priming and bottled after the three days with no further priming sugar. No wonder I was disappointed with the carbonation! Nice beer though, perhaps I'll give it another go.

    Hop pellets

Thanks for that, looks like they've modified the instructions from the kit I had. There was very little to drain but it looks like I did the right thing. Thanks again!

    Hop pellets

Relative Newbie here! Can somebody tell me how to use hop pellets please? The last brew I did (Beerworks) said to break up the hops with a knife, add boiling water to a jug with them in, break up some more, add to the fermenter and discard the liquid but this was apparently for dried whole hops...
