So do I need to batch prime as well as use c02

Yeah but I'd have to keep ripping open sachets and that's not good environmental practice

Because I'd have to keep putting half a teaspoon in to a bottle so a sugar cube is far easier

Did an experiment when priming my bottles a few weeks back and the sugar cubes were far better than carb drops and they're £1 for a 125 cubes

You could try adding some sugar and see if that works
