    AG#4 (BIAB) Deuchars IPA

Just order the grains for my next brew on the weekend. When I lived in South Queensferry this was my favourite ale so I'm hoping that Wheeler's recipe cuts the mustard. TAD

    Finally finished!

Today I managed to finish my STC 1000 control box. And as a bonus, nothing to do with the STC controller, my financial advisor brought me a gift - The fridge will have my TTL in for conditioning and then the temp will be set to 26c and we'll use the fridge to germinate this year's chilies.

    MLF?

I've just noticed that my cider has a thin white film on the surface. You can just see it in this photo. The cider smells --- well cidery if you know what I mean. I haven't sampled it because I don't want to disturb it. Is it MLF?

    False bottom

I thought I'd have a go and make a false bottom for my Bergland pot. I purchased a piece of perforated stainless sheet from flea bay, it has 2mm holes. Then a rigged up a circle cutting jig for my plasma cutter. Circle cut out. Now I've just got to raid the works parts bins for some...

AG2 - Black Sheep Best Bitter

Good Morning fellow brewers and other miscreants, It's peeing it down so no garden work can be done. It's a religious holiday so I can make any noise outside. So I'll just have to go and throw a brew together, I received all ingredients yesterday and i've programmed BrewR on my Nexus 7. The...

    A new addiction

It's just over a year since I did my first kit - a St Peter's IPA. Since then I've done: A Muntons Old English Ale A Muntons IPA (with added brew enhance). Then I went down the extract route with: a Tim Taylor from BrewUK (an excellent pint which has now, sadly, come to an end). a Rosemary &...

    My AG#1 BIAB

My first AG BIAB is planned for tomorrow (31st Okt 13). I set up my equipment this afternoon. Here's what it looks like I rigged up a small pulley and with some paracord I am able to lift the bag out easily. It's a standard Bergland 50L pot so I'll be syphoning in to the FV. I'll use my bag...

    Pears! Pears and more Pears!

We harvested about 30kg of pears on Saturday and processed 26kg in to juice, 2.5kg into pear wine, the wife ate some, there's poached pears for dinner this evening and we've only done 2/3rds of the tree! A few photos. This made things a lot easier and only cost 5,99€. In action, I lined...

    BAIB Musings

I am going over to AG but starting out with BAIB. I've bought a 50L pot from Bergland, the wife is making me a bag from some Voile curtains and tape. My first brew was going to be an English IPA but I can't get crushed Maris Otter over here. I can get uncrushed but I don't have the budget for a...

    Low Cost AG Set Up

I'm pretty sure that I saw a thread on here about a 50 quid (ish) AG set up. I searched for it with Google advanced search but have failed to find it. Is there a thread or am I mishtahken? Cheers TAD

On my trip to Coventry last week I had a pint of Sunbeam from Banks. It was bloody glorious, nice and bright, light with a good taste of grapefruit. I would love an extract recipe for something similar, can anybody recommend something. Cheers TAD p.s - the gravity poured Tim Taylors Landlord...

Hi all, I want to do an extract IPA for my next brew but am having problems finding Crystal Malt over here in Germany. Pale Malt - yes, wheat (weizenmalt) - yes but Crystal Malt no. Is there an alternative that I can use, most recipes (from Marc O's book) call for around 200g of Crystal. What...
