How much headspace to leave when fermenting in a corny?

As little as you dare... I cut of the gas post to almost flush, and leave a litre. This isn't always enough, even at 10psi and I sometimes get some krausen through the sounding valve. So 2l to be safe id say

    Simultaneous brew with Brewzilla's v3.1

Agree this will be fine, provided the ring has been wired correctly. 2.5mm cable can deal with 2 13A appliances. A double socket probably can't though, and will get hot, so I would plug into separate outlets. Also, this is a given, but don't run all in ones off of extension cables if you can...

Doesn't seem a million miles removed from current processes.

    homebrewing popularity trends

I think it's just brewers maturing and trying to brew new things. I like APAs/IPAs/DIPAs the most, so when I started out this is what I brewed. Since then I've done a saison, a blonde, an impy stout, sours etc to keep things interesting.

    Klarstein Mundschenk

The issue with this is running the pump post boil. How do you prevent blockages?

    Klarstein Mundschenk

Need to subtract off headspace too, otherwise the mash will be too thick. Basically with the Mundschenk you end up with very little sparge water with medium-large marshes.

Craft beer giant Brewdog abandons real living wage for new employees

And accounting losses don't really matter anyway. I imagine depreciation covers the majority of that loss. EBITDA still positive and revenue up to record levels. They can afford to increase pay. As a general rule, businesses looking to cut expenses and frontload revenue are looking to sell up...

    Best price for ingredients

Looks like 2024 malt pricing in general is a bit cheaper than 2023, so good news there!

    Best price for ingredients

@MashBag I'd be keen on joining such a buying group. My folks live in Peterborough, but as I tend to visit at weekends, Brewer's Select is closed for collection. I'm running low on base malt, so keen for another bag.

Advice on a faulty keg system

Most common area I have seen leaks is the JG connections. Gotta make sure these are properly tight with the quick disconnects. Also it helps to cut beer line cleanly with a pipe cutter or Stanley knife. But yeah, agree leave the gas off.

The UK doesn't want the Imperial system back.

In the UK you can be sold 1/3, 2/3, half, and pints (or multiples of halves if you wanted 2.5 pints for example). So I guess that would standardise to 200ml, 275ml 400ml and 550ml. But that's guessing. Of course wine and spirits are already standardised in metric. Spirits used to be 1/6 gill or...

The UK doesn't want the Imperial system back.

It does include headspace, but I've never known an establishment in the UK fail to top up a short pint when asked, even Sam Smith's

The UK doesn't want the Imperial system back.

In my experience of Europe and SE Asia you get a small and a large, of mostly undisclosed volume.

The UK doesn't want the Imperial system back.

For me: Small distance in metric, big distance in miles, unless I am running, then both miles and km are used interchangeably. Weight in metric exclusively. Volume in metric, unless it's beer or milk. I'm against full conversion to metric, principally because we'd lose 13% of a pint of beer...

    Phosphoric Acid dilution calculation

CRS/AMS are challenging for some water sources. E.g. for the volume needed for London water, you'd end up with too much sulphate for a Neipa. The phosphate in phosphoric acid does taste (as in cola), but malt already has tons of sulphate in anyway so you don't notice any difference with a little...

    Hazy IPA.. not especially hazy

I don't think protofloc will impact the haze. It merely precipitates proteins on the hot side. I'd carry on with best practice and still use it in a Neipa. According to Janish, important factors in haze formation are: Early dry hopping - the "biotransformation" dry hop if you will. Of course...

Do you fully disassemble kegs each time when you clean it?

I think its impossible to clean the liquid out post without disassembly. These always have detritus in them, and only takes a couple of minutes if you have the correct socket/spanner. Also allow inspection of the O rings, which don't tend to last very long at all before needing replacement.
