    My Number 1 Smash

As a moderator, I thought you would understand that if someone asks for suggestions, it is OK to make suggestions. I didn't tell anyone they need to understand water chemistry. I started with plastic buckets and tap water over 50 years ago, and I wish I had discovered the difference that a...

    My Number 1 Smash

The OP asked us to suggest things he might improve. I made a suggestion.

    My Number 1 Smash

No mention in the notes about treating the water? Depending on your water supply and brew style you would probably benefit from some additions.

    Potential bottle carbonation tip

The zevros I looked at were quarter, half or full teaspoon rather than fully variable, but perhaps you have a more advanced model. I'm just offering an alternative!

    Potential bottle carbonation tip

Zebro is good solution. Alternative low-faff if you want a bit more flexibility in amount of carbonation: Calculste total sugar required, as if batch priming; Dissolve in hot water, using 10ml per bottle (so eg 400ml boiling water for 40 bottles); Use 10ml syringe (v cheap) to insert 10 ml in...

    I agree with that!

    Bit of a rant

This is very sad. You might argue with the effectiveness or fairness of the way governments try to deal with the issue, but climate change is not a joke. Very far from it. It is also sad that people believe that nothing changes, they are all the same, etc. You might not be impressed by Starmer...

Can you guess what went wrong?

I've used Mosaic a few times, and have never noticed a diesel flavour. Is that a common perception with Mosaic then? Maybe my taste buds are wired differently.

    Mobile phone backups

If it is a Samsung phone you can use SmartSwitch (free app) to backup phone to Windows pc or Mac., no cloud involved. Don't know about other manufacturers.

    ISP

I was with BT for years without problem. My contract was due to expire last December. Got a call in November from BT, long discussion, good deal on renewal promised. I had been paying £42 for 70/20 mbps, plus 400 hours free on landline. Renewal details came through - £56 including 'halo'. Not...

    Freeview/Freesat?

It would be great if someone could help me to understand the point of Freely. Is it simply so that you don't need an aerial any more? I'm struggling to see any other benefit. Ta.

    Electric cars.

I had an A2. Great car, but - touch controls instead of buttons. Worst though was fuel consumption - despite being so light I used to get less than 40 mpg.

    Electric cars.

Not necessarily. I looked at loans, and the interest rate on the best loan was higher than the interest rate my savings were earning. I have a low risk appetite, so my savings are not in sticks and shares. I'm retired now, so I'm not interested in using my capital to try to accumulate more...

    Freeview/Freesat?

That is excellent, but I wasn't trying to get points for the age of my system. Just pointing out that, even with a fairly old TV, you can schedule and record multiple TV programmes without a separate box! Mind you, it can't do 4 programmes at once, nor can I remotely control it! What it does do...
