    Wilko's leaky tap

+1 on checking the tap. I had a wilko keg years ago which necked itself off during the night as it had a fracture round the threads and dumped 4 gallons of ale all over the bedroom floor! As mentioned before, a thin smear of vaseline works wonders. I use it on the lid seals of my corny kegs...

    Wedding Bar

A while ago I asked advice about setting up a bar for my friends wedding. The wedding is now 8 weeks away and I've got the ale conditioning in corny kegs (an IPA and a bitter), I've resprayed and reassembled two flow control fonts to make them look posher and tonight I've just built a new gas...

White grape juice?? can't get it..

Was going to suggest Aldi as my local one always has it in stock. Maybe request that they get some in as I use the Rio D'Oro all the time with good results

Plastic tap on a DIY mash tun/boiler

Not sure, although for the cost I'd use a brass 15mm tank connector, a bit of 15mm copper tube and a 1/4 turn lever ball valve

repairing a Cornelius Maxi 310 cooler

Apologies for double-posting but just done a quick search and found the user manual for the Maxi range of coolers. They have full instructions, parts lists, exploded diagrams, wiring diagrams and a fault finding flowchart http://www.cornelius-emea.com/uploads/manuals/Maxi%20Manual.pdf

repairing a Cornelius Maxi 310 cooler

Glad they've been some help Chris, looking forward to seeing pics of your cooler too, will be interesting to see the differences. If you google your model you should be able to bring up the user manual with parts lists and the like. The basic wiring in mine before I modified it consisted of...

    Steralizing my equipment

Sorry Blue Moon, my bad. I came into the thread through the 'today's posts' link and didn't see it was in the wine section.

    Steralizing my equipment

I'd caution against not rinsing milton as its chlorine based and if not rinsed, it can react with the beer you make to produce trichlorophenol (TCP!) which had tastes foul!! By all means use it but rinse thoroughly afterwards! If you're concerned about contaminating the vessels and equipment...

    One brew 2 beers....

Sounds feasible to me, will certainly be interesting to see how it turns out. I recently brewed two beers in sequence by filing the mash tun with the second mash whilst the first wort was boiling. I like the sound of this though, two styles in the time it takes to brew one! Congratulations on...

    Too much head

I got mine from the local home brew shop, but a bit of pvc tube will do.just as well. Its been a long time but I think the taps on the wilko kegs need a bit of 12mm tube.

    Too much head

Hi matt :) what kind of keg do you have and what kind of tap? I used to have some plastic pressure kegs from Wilkinsons which had bog standard taps and gave a similar pour. I pushfitted a 6 inch length of ssilicone tube onto the tap which reached to the bottom of the glass and that helped to...

    Rusty Cornie!

Like Fil said, you can use Petseal. I've used it before on motorbike tanks but I'll be honest, I don't know if its food safe. Sounds ominous if its going rusty though.

repairing a Cornelius Maxi 310 cooler

Its a fairly straightforward job, the hardest bit was cutting a hole for the stat. It fits on mine quite nicely above the fan. I've taken a few pictures of the guts of mine if they're any help. An overview of the innards showing how the wiring's routed This stainless tube is where the...

    Hatchling Brewer

Certainly sounds like you really have done some research! On the face of it looks an interesting recipe, looking forwards to hearing about the results. Wassail! Phil

repairing a Cornelius Maxi 310 cooler

Hi Chris It's definitely a labour of love, good job I bought it cheap in the first place! I imagine the 110 will have similar guts to the 310 with a capillary action thermostat operating a contactor with bellows. The capillary tube is a sod to pull out (well, mine was) but just go steady and...

How to convert a ATX Power Supply to use in the Brewery

Excellent set of instructions Bob, cheers! I've got a couple of PSU's in the shed and not much to do this afternoon!

    How long do grains last?

Depends if its been milled or not i guess. If its milled, maybe a few months if kept airtight. If not, up to a year. Can't say for certain, I'm just speculating based on the growing seasons for barley and I'm sure better informed people will correct me but it stands to reason that its...

Coming home to God's own county!!

The vote has been counted and 89% of Yarm residents want to tell Stockton Council to stick it and return to North Yorkshire!! About time too, I've lived in four different counties and never moved house! It's about time we came home again!:drunk:

Help! I have gas problems :)

To be honest, I've never considered it that way Chris. I only live 15 mins drive from the Hop and Grape and they've always stocked them so never had to think about the mail order aspect if the local HB shop doesn't stock. Cheers Phil
