My Xmas brew 2016 adding cocoa nibs

Just an update, I went for 200g of Cocoa nibs, steeped them in boiled water for a few minutes, then poured it all into a clean fermentation bucket and racked the brew onto it. Seems the cocoa nibs like to float, will be interesting when i bottle. I'm hoping they will fall to the bottom prior to...

My Xmas brew 2016 adding cocoa nibs

A bit late this year in brewing my Xmas ale, but its been fermenting since 5/10/16 and is nearly done. This year, I just used an English special bitter recipe and added chocolate malt, black malt, molasses and cinnamon into the mix :) OG was 1.062 so hoping for a nice 6 plus % ale, anyway...

    Trumble dryer fires

Hotpoint would entertain us when we requested a new one when the letter arrived (well they did stating they would deliver a new one early 2017!), So read up on it and found out that the seller has an obligation to refund/send a new one out. They did a week later, they came and swapped the...

500ml glass bottles and carbonation drops

A tip I read on here the the other day was to grab a handful of sugar sachets from the likes of McDonalds and add one per bottle :) I prefer to batch prime though if bottling, There are plenty of calculators on the net and probably here. Jay

Well I managed to find a few hours and done this years x-mas brew the other day and its fermenting nicely. Didn't really follow a set recipe. Just used an ESB recipe and added some black and chocolate malt, some molasses sugar and a number of cinemon sticks. As it was really planned, I did...

Stand back, we have a gusher!

Yep, I've got the same problem! Bottled a Ruby Mild at I think 1.016 (don't ask why :-? ) They are full on gushers. Was thinking of trying to save it by doing what you have done or pouring into a corny. What results have you had now they have been re bottled? Cheers Jay
