Hi guys, this i suppose is a goodbye to this fine forum. I just got out of hospital yesterday. Lately id been suffering from shortness of breath and went to see my doctor last week. He sent me straight to hospital as i had an irregular heartbeat that was going through the roof. It turns out...

    Crazy diablo

Started brewing a brewferm diablo today. Ive never had a single bubble in my airlock before, on my youngs fv, but holy sh1t this brew keeps blowing the water out of the airlock :D I eased up the lid a bit and froth started oozeing out, so lid back on. I can safely say something is happening in...

    Is this common?

A teaspoon for lager and a half teaspoon for ale and stout, works well for me. You may have missed a bottle when adding the priming sugar... easily done mate :thumb:

    Is my Cerveza dead?

Firstly dont worry about the airlock, mine never bubbles, and give it another week if need be in fv. Dont panic mate. I got a tip from another member on here, to use yeast nutrient at start of brewing, one level teaspoon per gallon and it stops stuck fermentation. Ive had no bother since...

Leaking Tap on Young's 5 gallon pressure barrel

Yeah mate, well worth the couple of quid. The plastic backnut was stripped, and when you tried to tighten it, even by hand it tightened a bit then went loose again as you turned it.

Leaking Tap on Young's 5 gallon pressure barrel

Both my youngs fv's have backnuts on the taps. I had a leak on the one with a screw top. I bought a new brass backnut [ 2 pack] in b and q and was a much safer seal.

Kegging lager is not a good idea i beleive. If using a keg, brew ales and stout etc.

    First time brewing- Advice please!!

Coopers lager kits are great and simple to make. Coopers mexican cerveza, and coopers european lager are really good. Use brew enhancer instead of sugar for a great pint :thumb: oh and welcome mate

    St Peters Golden Ale review

Sounds like you havnt mixed the brew hard enough at the start, and so not getting a proper reading. What was the gravity reading at the start, and the reading after 3 weeks ?

    Help! Over carbonation?

Do you use a "little bottler" when bottling the beer to stop it splashing into the bottle?

    Help! Over carbonation?

Yeah as scott says put the sugar in the bottle before adding the beer. Lay out your bottles in rows, and use a funnel and add sugar to all of them, then start bottling. :thumb:

Should I do what it says on the tin?

Jonny, do you just stir the yeast in a glass of cold water, or hot water and let it sit for a while before adding to the fv to re-hydrate?
