    Dry Hopping

I use a hop bag weighed down with marbles and a piece of nylon string to get it sitting in the middle of the wort (not on the bottom or floating on the top) I always sanitise the bag, marbles and string first, drop the hops in (50g) after 9 x days in the fermenter, leave for 5 x days then...

    Fermentation Temperature

A heat pad would probably get you close to 18-20deg which should be good :) a couple of degrees fluctuation is okay (at least my beer seems to turn out fine)

    Beer tasting/appreciation books

I'm also curious about this :)

Bad seal on fv...will it cause problems??

Or just get the new Coopers DIY fermenter, they are brilliant, can see everything that's going on as well as they are clear not opaque. Unbelievable price as well $89 gets you the fermenter, 30 x bottles, sugar, lager kit, hydrometer, mixing spoon and DVD. I've got 3 now! ;)

    Clips

    That's good ;)

Fuggles dry hopping - always grassy?

I only have mine in for 5 days ;) I use pellet hops and a hop bag hung over the side with string and weighed down with marbles so it can sit in the centre of the brew

    Beer not fermented?

AFAIK there is no way now to work out your content but I could be mistaken......get another brew underway and use your hydrometer

    Beer not fermented?

With your OG and FG readings you can also use a calculator and work out your alcohol content

    Beer not fermented?

Get a hydrometer dude! You won't know what your OG (original gravity) is since you take that when you first make the brew, but your FG (Final Gravity) should be around 1.008 - 1.010 or if your readings stay consistent over three days (around that mark) it should be good to bottle :)

    Using Lager yeast

Do it now! ;) sooner the better

    Next Kit?

Depends what you like? Light summery beers, ales, darker ales or stouts? Give us some idea and we will offer advice ;) I really like all the Coopers kits though and the Beermakers Draught is excellent on its own or with dry hopping ;)

    What is your annual spend?

Yeah I'm over a grand but I do drink a bit and still have saved myself a lot than buying the commercial stuff......home brew has TASTE as well! ;)

    modifying a Coopers IPA

Those ingredients should be fine ;) I would brew it at 21lt and dry hop the Goldings. I ferment for 9 x days then add the hops (50g gives a nice full hop flavour for me but you may want more) I use a sanitised muslin bag on a piece of string weighed down with marbles for 5 x days then bottle...

    Coopers lager kits

They come with Ale yeast but you can swap out for lager yeast for better results

    Coopers Kit

No this kit comes with a standard lager kit that has an Ale yeast. If you use the standard yeast ferment between 18-21 deg but if you swap it out with a lager yeast aim for 10-13deg. I have done this kit with the Ale yeast and it was quite good. I recently done it again with some Saflager S-23...

    modifying a Coopers IPA

I think pellets are easier for beginners ;) I love Cascade the most in mine but have used Goldings and Fuggles in other types of kit and they have been nice, not sure with the IPA though

    modifying a Coopers IPA

Yeah Coopers definitely do an India Pale Ale (Heritage range) I do it all the time! I brew it slightly short at 22lt, 1kg DME, 250g Dextrose. Brew between 18-20deg for 9 x days then dry hop (hang a sanitised muslin bag in the fermenter with string and weigh down with marbles) with 25-50g Cascade...

    hopping mad!

Same here, hop teas (for me) were a waste of money, only dry hop for 5 x days now (after fermentation finishes and 5 x days before bottling) I use between 25 & 50g ;)

is fermentation complete even though still bubbling?

Oh I'm using Tapatalk on Samsung Galaxy and for me all it showed was 1.00 not 1.008 my bad, yeah that sounds just fine to bottle but I agree with darrellm temp sounds high

is fermentation complete even though still bubbling?

Isn't FG only meant to be 1.00 when in water? Sounds like a stuffed hydrometer? Please correct me if I'm wrong ;)
