    Second brew of the year..

Well I came home from work last night around 6pm to find this brew had decided to try & escape from the FV. It was close-ish to the wall & a big dollop of the krausen decided to stick to the wall  , wiped it off. Today the huge head as all gone :o but it's still fermenting with bubbles...

    Second brew of the year..

..Already  . I don't get the time to post too often here, but just a month ago I bottled a Woodfordes Sundew so it's ready in time for the summer, it finished around 4.5% . Just this afternoon I called into my local Trafford Home Brew shop & bought a can of Coopers Stout & 1kg of...

Cider concoction - a bit smelly.

Phew, that's a relief. Thanks Graysalchemy :hat: .

Cider concoction - a bit smelly.

Hi fellow brewers, I've put a random brew on the go on Tuesday, it's 2.75L apple juice from concentrate & 1L orange juice from concentrate, 1 mug of strong tea, 1tsp yeast nutrient & a sachet of wine yeast, all bar the juice & tea was purchased from my new local brew shop in Sale, Manchester...

    Keeping the FV warm.

Is it this one BB: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... IUM+HEATER Darcey, I see you're in Stockport. Do you use the HBS on the A6? Do you feel like slitting your wrists when you come out of there? I do, not very friendly I found  .

    Keeping the FV warm.

Hi all  , I've read several topics on here about keeping my FV in the proper oC range. I leave mine in the kitchen on the worktop, this weather it's below 18oC according to the stick on temp gauge. Last couple of days I've had a bath towel wrapped round it to try & keep the chill off it...

    Brewers Best Holiday kit.

Thanks Shocker :thumb: . Now that's more like what I've been thinking. A lot of those kits don't show a large can of some sort, I take it the extra you get in DME makes up for the canned variety, so you don't need it? So call me a bit thick  , but each of the above packs is enough for a...

Just started a St. Peters Ruby Ale kit.

Looking around the world wide webnet  this kit seems to be coming up trumps every time. I first saw this kit on on Youtube from member Craigtube so thought I'd give it a try. 4.3% @ 23L according to the instructions, so I decided to stick to the recipe as far as 21L was concerned  ...

    Youngs Definitive Lager kit.

Wow, I remember making this thread ages ago  . To be honest, this kit has been the worst one I've brewed to date. It tasted  .

    Brewers Best Holiday kit.

 Anyone? As said, not sure if this is available in the UK, but if anyone knows, you lot do  . Or if anyone can recommend a decent kit & grain kit like the above..

    Brewers Best Holiday kit.

Hi everyone & a happy new year to you all  . Just a quick one, I follow a channel on Youtube, many of you may also follow it (or not), the channel is Craigtube & I've just watched his latest video of the Brewers Best Holiday kit. I'm pretty much a 'kit & kilo' man, but not scared to try...

    absolute bargain (Thanks to Sandman)

I've not had a bad tasting Coopers kit yet. I've got a Mexican & Canadian blonde conditioning till xmas. It's all bottled & has been for about 6 weeks so far. I wouldn't go that far mate, it was quite poor  . It was only £6.99 I think at Wilko's :thumb: .

    absolute bargain (Thanks to Sandman)

I don't post here often, but I've tried this kit & it was awful, I threw the majority of it away because I couldn't give it away..

Using 50% of the beer kit? Mesuring the alcohol?

I would say if you're going to brew just half of the kit then use half of the ingredients but still use a sachet of the yeast, it's cheap enough to buy anyway. I would worry about how you're going to store the rest of the can with it now being open, it could get contaminated. Asda & Tesco...

    Coopers Canadian blonde kit.

Thanks guys  . It seems to be their own label enhancer stuff. Well, it had a sticky label of their own on anyway. I woke up just after 3am this morning & the brew pinged to mind  , so I came downstairs to have a nosey at it. The head was going like the clappers thanks to the...

    Coopers Canadian blonde kit.

Hi folks , My 2nd brew in a month  . Wanted to try the above kit for a while now, so I've put it on. 1 tin Canadian blonde, 1kg of mixed malt & dextrose & S-04, it performed well in my last brew here. The OG seemed a little low to me, 1044, maybe it's about right, but I like a beer...

    First kit brew in 2011.

Blacksheep, you like the Ozzie lager then. I brewed that & the European one last year & of them both I found myself just swallowing the Ozzie one without tasting it, really wasn't keen on it personally. Next friday is my next brewday anyway, Coopers Canadian whilst I'm off work :thumb: .

    First kit brew in 2011.

Sorry for not updating this thread, I wasn't going to with 1 post, I didn't feel the interest was there. But, for those who are doing or thinking of doing this kit can find this topic by searching :thumb: . Anyhow, I like to leave my kits for 3 weeks before bottling, I hate sediment so like to...

    2nd ever brew

One thing I learnt myself from this brew, the yeast that comes with this one isn't the same that comes with the other Coopers kits, it's apparently a real lager strain. No doubt in 24hrs from the room it's fermenting in will smell like eggy farts, mine did & others I've read on here have too...

    Mexican Cerveza

This was the first kit I ever did & to date it's the best tasting. Here's my recent topic: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=17313 It's currently at 5% after just over 2 weeks so I'm sure it's stopped fermenting but I'm giving it another 10 days or so to clear more. I like the taste of it, seems to have a...
