    All brewing equiptment 25% off

If you buy all your homebrew stock and can survive until they have the next 'sale' it is a bargain, but they have had several 'sales' in the last year, then slapped another 50p on top. I paid £6 for a brewing bucket in Wilko, when it wasn't a sale, now, £9.50 outside of their sale, it is quit...

    All brewing equiptment 25% off

Yes it is currently a 'bargain' but they will hike the price again, not that much of a bargain when their sale brings it inline to online prices. I'm saving money in hope they have the better discount around fathers day.

    All brewing equiptment 25% off

You missed the massive fathers day promotion last year then.... Downside is, they will no doubt be hiking the prices after the promo as they have had quite the increase in the last year, positive I paid £6 in a non sale for a bucket (Now £9.50) and no more than £18 for a keg which the current...

    Rhubarb wine

I made 12 bottles last year, have only tried one so far after about 6 months, I was quite impressed. One recipe that I followed suggested chopping it up, freezing the rhubarb, then defrosting it then refeezing and defrosting a couple of times to help break it down and get more juice from it...

    Parsnip Wine

I made this last year, and went for the sherried kind of version. Bottled and kept it until Christmas, it was quite a warmer, very sweet sherry like, and erm, dangerous. Too much and it will hit you, still got 3 bottles left, shall be attempting to keep them for another year :D

    Newbie Leaking Pressure Barrel

On the tap leak, is it the seal between tap and barrel, or the actual tap spout? I've found pressure barrels are notorious for dripping from the spout, my solution, when not in use, I turn the tap upwards. If you look, the end of the tap turns inside the part that is threaded to the barrel, so...

    Aaargh my barrel is leaking

As mentioned, try not pushing the lever all the way back. What I did to one of mine, on the tap, get a good strong hold on the bit that threads into the barrel, then carefully turn the tap itself so that it points upwards, you just have to tutn it down to pour, and repeat. If you want to...

    Muntons Santas Winter Warmer Review

Was woken by the gurgle of the air lock this morning, not too frequent, but something it's sprung back to life at least.

    Muntons Santas Winter Warmer Review

Got the exact same problem with this, so some multi purpose yeast and nutrient and a stir to try and give it a kick, also put it in me water bath to encourage it. Will be checking it again soon.

    Just ordered my DE razor

I found with Sensor and Machs I need at least 2 shaves a week, I did recently leave it for 2 weeks and it was very itchy, ginger and grey mixed in, I start looking like Grizzly Adams if I didn't. :D Going from nearly £2 a blade at 50p a shave, to 13p a blade and 4p a shave was a no brainer...

    Just ordered my DE razor

I got a Weishi 9306-E about 6 months ago, tried numerous blades including the Derby, but I have found the Gillette 7 O'clock blades to be my favourite so far. Got 100 off Amazon for £13, so about 13p a blade, can get 3 good shaves per blade as well. Some shops do a multipack selection of...

    Elderberry Wine - Quantities?

I have kinda developed a rule of thumb, 4lb fruit, 1 bag(ish) sugar, 1 gallon. Seems to serve well for most recipes, from what I've seen for elderberry, the more per water ratio, the fuller bodied it can come out.

    Wilkinson sale anyone?

Damn, not a great sale, but will they be chucking another price hike on at the end? Shame not a real sale, need some more air locks £10 for a fermenting bucket, £7 for a demi john, they keep going up this year

    Wilko Pressure Barrels

I replaced the taps on my Wilko Kegs, although I still have a brew in one with a standard wilko tap, it drips, so I just turn the tap part in to point upwards, if you hold the thread bit the tap assembly will turn if careful.

    Wilko Pressure Barrels

I have been using them, had 5 :D 2 cracked, and made the cellar smell beery. I did get compensation and replacement kits from wilko/manufacturers. I do think the standard keg, the screw top is an issue, the pressure relieve 'valve' bit of rubber round a hole seems very tight and doesn't vent...

Blackberry Wine - how I do it

Mines bubbling away now after 2 days of waiting. The house has a rather sweet blackberry smell to it at the moment, it certainly smells good, and looks violent

    Coopers stout and black treacle

The dark chocolate I used was an 80% cocoa bar from aldi, I boiled up water added that and the chocoloate sauce so as to make sure it was all melted before adding it to the boiled water in the bucket. Trying to save the bottled stuff, give it a chance to mature a little more.

    Coopers stout and black treacle

I went with roughly half a tin of treacle, kilo of extra dark spray malt, bar of melted dark chocolate, 100g of lyles chocolate sauce. The only way to describe the reviews of my 6.4% Black Gold is....WINNER, all that have tasted it have enjoyed it.

Sainsburys tv ad taking the P*SSS

I complained to the ASA over loo rolls, Andrex advertised as a 'never ending' loo roll. When I pointed out my dismay at running out, and a Kobo isn't a very good substitute, they suggested that the advert was not meant to be 'taken literally' and was supposed to be 'amusing'. So maybe...
