    Puerto del carmen lanzarote beer?

Not really a craft ale capital, too hot for ale - stick to lager or preferably wine as you can get some good stuff there. I have been there a few times and recommend the Sal y Pimento (salt and pepper) restaurant in the harbor as its our favorite by a long way - the food and service is...

    Magnetic Pump Failure!

restricting the outflow is no problem for the pump and is probably the way to go, if you can get the tap opened the right amount so the flow does not seem to weaken over time then that's a good indication that the pump rate is matching the run off and not sucking.

Which yeast is best to re-start a "stuck" English Porter?

This could be a case of the yeast have eaten all they feel like eating and have gone to sleep. In which case adding more yeast won't help as the original yeast will have consumed all the available nutrients first and will have camped in leaving nothing for any competing micro culture. One...

Has anyone done a Chateau Du Roi

Drinking the Selection one at the moment seems good, possibly a bit richer than I prefer

    Magnetic Pump Failure!

Is the run off from the mash tun sufficient to feed the pump or is it sucking against the mash ? I broke a few solar plumps by not realising that the pump cannot be restricted on the inflow, when pumping directly from the tap on the mash tun you have to make sure the run off meets the flow rate...

Problems bottling from a casked ale

Sounds like air is getting introduced to cause foaming. Is the wand emiting the beer at the bottom of the bottle below the surface, is the tap/tubing/wand well sealed, is the cask pouring straight from the tap and not through a floater?

    Mobile phone rant

Car phone warehouse are by far the most disgusting example of a service provider, bordering on criminal extorsion - whoever you chose won't be half as bad. Having been turned over by them royally and having used several companies since I found EE to be more reasonable and great coverage...

    Chick pea beer?

What is the difference between a lentil and a chickpea? would you pay £200 to have a lentil on your face! not sure I'd fancy making beer out of that

    Did Thatcher ruin British Brewing?

This is common as decent tenants who do the maths just wont take on pubs because the deal is stacked heavily in favor of the greedy pubco. This means that many pubs are run by hapless degenerates who just want a roof over their head and someone to drink with before eventually being forced out or...

Cleaning and sanitising a HERMS system

Another helpful tip is to run the sparge through the Herms system if you can. When I clean out a corny using oxy or caustic, I gas it up and blast it through the chiller and Herms as well.

    Clear bottles

Some breweries use techniques to guard against light skunking in clear bottles such as using tetra hop which doesn't react to light.

    rice hulls

That's flaked rice, a different thing - it is common in lagers as is flaked maize to improve flavour, clarity etc... Rice hulls or more common oat hulls don't add to the wort just help run off.
