    Aberdeen Brewdog Homebrew Club

I know that the Glasgow Brewdog bar has a similar venture - I'm sure the whole group will be keen to get clubs going.

    Williams Bros.

Hope it turns out well for you.

    Glen Shiel Gale - 02-03-14

I've just popped out to the garage to check how it's going. I got a big whiff of sulphur so it smells like the Pilsner yeast has taken hold after all.

I didn't want to risk it Kev so I'll probably end up with some hybrid beer. I've ordered some S23 from Rob so might just go for the same again this weekend but ferment with the proper yeast.

    Glen Shiel Gale - 02-03-14

It turns out the yeast was dead - absolutely nothing happening in the fermenter. Plan B was just as bad - I thought I had a spare S23 but I didn't. The best I could do was a sachet of Rob's West Coast Ale Yeast so this isn't going to be a hybrid after all. Its just going to be a straight APA...

    Williams Bros.

Its not actually the same as Ceasar Augustus but I was copying the style. Nice beer but unfortunately very little left. Glen Shiel Gale.

Thanks chaps  It was my first brew since November so really enjoyed it. The yeast has a best before of 28th Feb but hopefully enough viable cells between the two vials to get things moving. If there is a problem I have a sachet of S23 as a backup. :hmm:

I'm attempting another APA/Lager hybrid today. Its a style I've been really enjoying and I have had some WLP yeast in the fridge that needs using up. Mash was on for 7:30 so its about time I started sparging. :)

    Williams Bros.

Williams are my favourite brewery at the moment too. Aldi usually have a selection of their beers at £1.39 a bottle so if I'm in the area I grab a few. I could drink Fraoch and Caesar Augustus until the 7 Giraffes come home. :D I walked the West Highland Way with my son a couple of years...

    John Smiths

The other thing to consider when aiming for John Smiths is whether it is the Smooth Flow effect that you are really after. I once spoke to a novice brewer and his ambition was to make John Smiths Smooth Flow but had been getting disappointing results. He was dispensing via a budget plastic keg...

    Schiehallion - 17-11-13

All done now. I had problems with a stuck mash that is probably down to the amount of wheat malt in the grist. So I had to empty the mash tun out to clear everything and even when I got things running again it was very slow.

    Schiehallion - 17-11-13

I'd rather not say. I will ferment at 14c and then just bottle and mature in the normal way. This yeast doesn't need lagering. I'm hoping its ready for christmas holidays.

    Good spot Abey. Changed now.

    Schiehallion - 17-11-13

I've been wanting to brew Schiehallion for quite a while now but finally got my finger out to do some research and get the ingredients. I plan to get this on tomorrow morning when the house is quiet and with any luck get finished by lunchtime.

Garage Lagering crew, where are you?

I've done it for the last few years and am going to brew a new batch on Friday. However I simply use my same process except I go for a diacetyl rest at the end of fermentation. Once ready I bottle and let it lager in the bottle in the garage all winter. If you get really good winter the chill...

    Brewdog shares anyone?

Normally companies are valued as multiples of annual adjusted net profit not on turnover.

    Brewdog shares anyone?

I got some shares in the first IPO a couple of years ago. It's not really an investment where you might expect a return (at least not in the short to medium term) as the shares are not publicly traded and at the moment there isn't even a facility to trade privately or through brewdog. There is...
