    Homemade Apple Mulcher

Evening. I'm interested in cheap but effective methods to mash apples. Seen the old blade at the bottom of a bucket. Any alternatives that don't require a blacksmith to fabricate the blade?

    Elderberry Storage Advice

I am collecting elderberries to make a wine. I have collected 1/4 of what is needed so far but am unsure how to store them while waiting for me to collect the other 3/4. I will eventually freeze them because it'll be some weeks until brewday. Prior to freezing, should I: Wash them on...

Adding Less Water than Kit Says

Gah! Of course 40 pints is roughly 23 litres. Apologies for the lame post, and thank you for your patient replies. Feel free to point and laugh at me accordingly.

Adding Less Water than Kit Says

Morning. I have a 30L FV (Youngs), but all the kits say to add 40L water. What would the effect be to add only 30L to brew the whole can? Also, its a single can kit. So, assuming I am adding ~10 litres less, should I add less dextrose/spray malt, or go the whole hog? Just curious. Shey

Thanks for the quick reply thejesmonddingo. Do I have to wait any amount of time before adding yeast?

    Campden or Straight From Tap

Evening. I know much discussion has been had regarding campden/boiling of water and Chlorine. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a consensus to my question and so am asking. I would like to brew tonight from a Wherry kit. I forgot to boil/campden water last night to use now. What is your advice...

How Soon Can I Drink It?

First of all, apols if this is dealt with elsewhere. My initial search did not find an answer. Got an old can of bitter kit hanging about and want to chuck it in the FV tomorrow. Once fermentation is complete, I want to bottle 1/2 and the rest into the equivalent of a 1 gallon milk container...

    Chilli Wine

Definitely keep with the updates Amadeus. I am able to get quite a few chillis from the market on a weekend and have made jams and chutneys with them. A wine sounds like a fantastic idea!

    Beer Kits

It's great to read about someone else who is having a blast with kits. I'm still on my first, but spend waaaaaay too much time thinking about the next one I'm going to get. Woodforde's Wherry is definitely on my Christmas list.

What kit did you start off with?????

My first kit is perhaps a little easier to remember than a few of you. Youngs definitive bitter. Bottled it last week.

    Woodforde's Wherry?

Wherry is already on my Christmas list. I'm only just through my first kit (just about to prime the bottles), but I have liked Wherry when I have found it on tap, and could do with a bit of that in the home! :drink:
