Copper immersion chiller £10 (RRP £50+) collection only SE5 8PF

Copper immersion chiller. Perfect working order. Plenty of public transport within walking distance. Permit parking during the week (free at weekends), but should be able to park within sight of the house and stick hazards on no problem. Have so much junk (brewing and non-brewing) have...

Keezer for collection in London SE5: £90

Getting rid of my beloved keezer due to lack of space (I now have two children!). It's about 5 years old. Homemade with a solid oak collar. All the parts including the Lec freezer were brand new when I built it. Fits two full corneys and a half corney. Needs a drip tray, a CO2 canister and a...

    Timothy Taylor Golden Best recipe?

Thought I'd resurrect this thread, as I'm planning to go ahead with a slighty adjusted version of the Yorkshire Pale Mild from this article: https://byo.com/stories/item/1151-mild-ale-its-not-dead-yet Substituting the malt extract with mild malt for an AG recipe. BeerSmith gives me a much...

Mini auto siphon for yeast starter

I'd like to use an auto siphon to remove the starter wort from my yeast starter. I've found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Automatic-Syphon-Mini-1-5-Tubing/dp/B008NE9C18 Any other suggestions? Thanks

    American Wheatwine?

How would you classify this? Brewed it using leftover ingredients and it's been 7 days in the fermenter.... FG too high for an Imperial IPA. Black Malt not suitable for an Imperial IPA. OG not high enough for a American Barleywine... Boil Size: 26.63 l Batch Size (fermenter): 17.49 l...

    Brewdog 660ml bottles

Good tips thanks. The obsessive in me wanted to match my existing collection of 660ml BrewDog bottles, but I do fancy some swingtops too.

    Brewdog 660ml bottles

When will they start selling beer in 660ml bottles again, if ever? Always used to use them for bottling...

    Barcelona - huge disappointment

You see a building with massive letters ALE-HOP. You walk up to it and discover it only sells bags!

    Timothy Taylor Golden Best recipe?

Perhaps the TT Best Bitter recipe from Graham Wheeler with a lot less crystal, less pale, a bit more black and 1-2C off the mash temperature. That might do it.

    Timothy Taylor Golden Best recipe?

Can't find any TT Golden Best recipes on the internet (Golden Best; not Best Bitter). Any ideas? I'm going to try something halfway between Landlord and Banks's Original. I'm particularly interested in yeast recommendations. Thanks!

    First dry hop attempt

If I dry hop in primary, presumably any weight/muslin-bag approach risks disturbing the sediment? So far I've had decent results without secondary fermentation (not to say I won't try it at some point). I like the auto siphon + muslin idea (not to say there is a right or wrong way). Seems...

Great thanks. Sterilised marbles sound fiddly. Not my style...

    First dry hop attempt

How do people dry hop? I have a simple two Young's buckets with taps system. After primary, straight to batch prime in the second bucket via some food grade tube. Then straight into the bottles via little bottler. Works well for me so far and I don't want to overcomplicate things. I'd like...

    Vinegary smell after primary

OK so after a few weeks conditioning, it tastes mostly of fairly acidic apple juice. On the nose it's a little bit like the smell of a Hefeweizen (but still apples). There's some hops. Not much malt flavour. There was plenty of malt flavour one week through fermenting. I wouldn't say it...

First ever brew (and it was all-grain!)

Are they difficult to grow? I notice they're growing Fuggles in the new glass-covered bit of Borough Market.

First ever brew (and it was all-grain!)

PS I discovered on my second brew a whopping great leak on my mashtun, which I probably didn't notice the first time around because I was having difficulty fly sparging. This probably explains the terrible efficiency. For my second brew I fixed the leak and achieved 75% brewhouse efficiency...
