Craft beer brewing - Water, malt, hops yeast

Thanks. It's really an article for the type of people who ask me about brewing, without writing a whole 'how to' book. I guess just an overview. Sent from my SM-T310 using Tapatalk

Beer Kits, Extract or All Grain?

I normally write about cooking and growing, but lately, I've been writing a bit about my homebrewing activities. The last in the series is a walk-through of the all grain brewing process. http://justsimon.co.uk/home-brewing-grain-beer-brewing/

Beer Kits, Extract or All Grain?

Awesome, guess it's good to keep a log. I actually would, if. I didn't have so much focus on growing and cooking. Really, I just dropped in a few beer-related articles for fun.

    Centennial Green Bullet Pale Ale

Funny how it goes! I often find people who are into one interest often share others with me... The drink is now bottled and sat conditioning.

    Connical Fermenter?

That's a pretty good business model.

    Connical Fermenter?

I use the Maltmiller a fair bit. I guess you mean the 26.3 litre capacity unit at £165? It does look a nice piece of kit, but I'm wondering if it has the same advantage as the ball on the fast ferment?

    Connical Fermenter?

It is tempted, but I'm only doing small batches, say 15 to 23L. Though I am looking for improvements where possible.

    Connical Fermenter?

I like the idea that it avoids racking several times, plus the oxygen exposure and sanitising required every time. It sounds like there are some drawbacks. Is the non-sealing a great problem?

    Connical Fermenter?

Thanks. I had my eye on the fast ferment.... I'm afraid it has to be plastic for a poor man like me  As much as I'd like some stainless kit, I'm going to make do on a budget! Though hopefully I can improve things a little.

    Connical Fermenter?

Hello, Just wondered if anybody has experience with these please?? I like the look of them and it seems a good idea. Are they really that much better than the ordinary fermentation bucket? Thanks.

    Centennial Green Bullet Pale Ale

I've used Green Bullet as the bittering Hops, and some late additions of Centennial. Here, I walk-through the design process for the Centennial Green bullet Pale Ale. Though I normally write about growing and cooking, with a Chilli bias... Lately, I've been publishing a few articles about...

Craft beer brewing - Water, malt, hops yeast

Point taken. In all honesty, the article came out much longer than I had aimed for.... but once I had started writing.... I mentioned about water companies sometimes providing a report as to the chemical make-up of the water. Strangely, some people round this way claim the hard water is...

Craft beer brewing - Water, malt, hops yeast

I often have people ask me questions about basic brewing, as they know it's one of my many interests.. I was actually raising the point that there ARE ways of altering the water, and that it DOES make a difference to the brew. Really to be aware of it, and that further investigation/reading...

Craft beer brewing - Water, malt, hops yeast
