    Carbonation

Thanks for the help. I will post my progress.

    Carbonation

Does anyone have a simple TC guide?

    Carbonation

Thanks for the help. I think I am leaving it too long and the yeast must not be sufficient to get decent carbonation. I suppose I have listened too the bottle bomb scaremongers too much.

    Carbonation

Hi. 1 gallon cheap apple juice no added sugar. I normally use a mangrove jack cider yeast and put a tsp of sugar in before bottling.

    Carbonation

Hi all, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this but I struggle to get consistent carbonation in my turbo cider. I've been making it for a while with mixed results and can't find a fool proof method. I don't mind scrumpy style cider but swmbo likes it fizzy. As I mainly make wine help would be...

    Adding water

Thanks. I think I have it straight in my head now.

    Adding water

Hi all, I have been recently helping a friend get into brewing. I helped him make a couple of WOWs. Then he hit me with a question. Does adding water reduce the strength of the brew? After some confused discussion I have more questions than answers and have never really thought about it...

    Topping up Mead.

Thanks for all the input people. Really helpful. I will have a go. I tend not to go into the technical stuff so will keep it as simple as I can and will report back. Cheers.

    Topping up Mead.

I have read the JOAM and it looks like a good starting point. I think I will start with a straight mead. I was thinking something like this: 4 jars of honey (I like to keep costs down so probably value honey) Lemon juice Not sure what yeast yet. In all the recipes I've seen no one uses...

    Topping up Mead.

Agreed. I think some people like to make it complicated to confuse plebs like me. However, I like to keep things as simple as possible. My goal is to make tasty brews with limited space and effort, otherwise I wouldn't bother (but that's just me). I have read somewhere that someone topped up...

    Topping up Mead.

Thanks guys. I am quite limited to space and try to keep things as simple as possible. What is the best thing to top up with? Water?

    Topping up Mead.

Hi all, I fancy making a 1 gallon batch of Mead but have never done it before. I have made loads of wine so sort of know what i'm doing. Normally with wine I only fill up to below the shoulder of my 1 gallon DJ so it doesn't escape through the air lock. I then top up with water once...

    Grapeless WOW!

Well I've bottled my grape less wow and it tastes great. I'm very impressed with the apple and grapefruit and so is SWMBO. At first it was very sour but has mellowed. Only problem I had was with my Novatwists not sealing properly.

    Grapeless WOW!

I've had the same reaction tonyhibbert. I gave my wine to a colleague (who was very snooty about homebrew) in a fancy Malborough bottle. He drank it happy commenting on its merits. It didn't even have any grape in it!

    Grapeless WOW!

I have just found some 100% concentrate grape juice. I am going to make a batch and do a test on some wine boffs.

    Grapeless WOW!

Agreed. I think this is a key point. So is grape necessary?

    Grapeless WOW!

Spot on Chippy. I just tasted it tonight again. I don't think I'm going to bother bottling it at this rate as I can't help having a wee glass! My thing is to keep it simple, small scale and as cheap as possible. I looked to source wgj on the internet but the price was inhibitive. My WOW...

    Grapeless WOW!

This is not a question but just a narrative for those who wish to read it. I thought this might help a few people out. I have been making WOW for a while now with great results. I would happily say that it tastes like a decent wine. However, we all know about the wgj shortage in our shops...

    What juices for WOW

Jam. I would chuck two apple in with that wgj and peach. The way I figure is if you are going to top up with water you might as well top up with watery wgj and peach. I might be wrong though. :hmm:

    What juices for WOW

Just topped up my Apple with water. It is the only one not going mental. I imagine I will lose some volume on the others but as long as they are tasty.
