    stirring my brew?

Hey man, I'd say it's about done then...at this point in fermentation, I tend to rouse the yeast and let it sit for another couple days and then transfer it to the secondary.

    Brewing my Oktoberfest

Well, that pictures of the glass of beer is an old picture and the rest of the pictures, I just brewed. So I will have some tasting notes up once the beer is finished. I only brew the Oktoberfest once a year and it's always a great beer. The glass of beer you see in the picture is of my amber...

If anybody has tried their hand at this I'd love to hear it. Besides Fullers, Hobgoblin makes my favorite English ale. I'm looking for their dark ale recipe...I've seen several but I'm wanting that tried and true

    Brewing my Oktoberfest

Well, I'm having problems figuring out how to give to the forum a step by step photo gallery on how I brew. This link I just put up has bugs, so maybe in a day or 2 I can figure it out. I'm great at making beer, but I'm not that great with posting pictures on the internet

    36hrs and still no activity

That's odd man that you see no activity and yet your readings show progress. I'm baffled because your airlock should be bubbling away...and yet, nothing. I've been brewing for 13 years and haven't ever seen that. The only thing I can think of is that it is old yeast and most of the yeast is dead...

I have a dozen or more pictures of a brewing session I had and I want to post them but I'm not sure how to do it on this forum. Anybody have suggestions?

Is it OK if beer/yeast gets into the airlock?

Well, there are a few factors here. Bear with me I'm going to use gallons on this comment. Did you let the beer ferment all the way out? That is very important for reasoning when to rack to a secondary. When you do rack to your secondary...do you use a 5 gallon glass carboy? Also, what size of...

The vasoline seems strange...but glad it took off. At the same time, pitching "cold" yeast will take a few days to really take off.

Irish Moss at 5 (five) minutes?

I'm an experienced brewer...15 works. However, I haven't ever used it in 13 years and my beer comes out very clear

Confused about the amount of water/liquor to use

People in general have to appreciate a perspective like this. Beer IS forgiving. Give your first shot a whirl and learn as you go. My first few batches tasted like a wet towel in a dusty basement. We all get better and the process gets very smooth.

Confused about the amount of water/liquor to use

Simplify it. When you mash, use 1.2 ltrs per lb of grain. Example: 10lbs grain...you would use 3 gallons of water or 11.3 liters. I'm used to gallons so sometimes I use decimals for liters. Now, for your sparge water. I use 25liters of sparge water. Do I need it all? Most of the time... Just...

    Yeast Harvesting Guide

Looks like I may have to look at acid washing know! Dennis Nice, if you have any questions about acid washing, just ask away. I have been doing it for years and I have kept yeast healthy for over a year with that method.

    stirring my brew?

Did you check it? If not, you can still wait another few days to make sure it's good and ready. Transferring a beer with eagerness can ruin the beer.
