    WineExpert kit, not cleared

Hi there. Done about 6 or 8 kits now, Running a Wine expert Pinot 30 bottle kit and I've come to bottling and its not clear. I think its because I didn't de-gass enough at the necessary time but real life unfortunately got in the way. Just before I was going to bottle it I racked it into a...

    STC-1000 Temp controller wiring

I've been running one of these since christmas, all wired up and working as it should. Its been running in a garage that has been cold so its only using the heater but this sunday was the first time that cooling has been needed to maintain 20 degrees. It was bringing in the fridge but...

    Tannin v tea bags

Well I did a three teabag one yesterday but it was just a random mix, mango, apple and white grape juice. Just really a "what the hell" go at it. I will do a more controlled one next week with 100% apple (prob 2 x 1ltr) and a white grape juice, 800 suger, 1 pec, 1 nutr, 2 bag tea. If these...

    Tannin v tea bags

I suppose because it tastes exactly like the tannin smells if that makes sense, its just about drinkable but not really enjoyable so such a disappointment after all the kits i've done. I followed the exact WOW recipe but used the apple variant as it sounded like more people liked that. The...

    Tannin v tea bags

My first three WOW's have had too much tannin in, the taste was really present and upleasent in the final result. On teaspoon as per the recipe I followed. I've bottled two of them but thrown the third, I do hope they melow over time and have chucked them into the corner of the garage to...

    Re: Festival Razorback IPA Review

I did the same, moved it into a secondary for a few days and it left a load of sediment behind so i'm pleased I did it. Apart from anything else, syphoning it out of the primary was a task and a half!

    STC 1000 - Which one?

 I can see your right already, got two kits on (one a christmas present and the other I brought in a sale) yesterday so the fridge is full. Its sitting in my garage in an ambient temperature of 4c, inside the fridge its 20c 8-) Next would be an under counter one :thumb: I think my...

    Beaverdale Pinot Grigio

I've done three wine kits now, this pinot was my second (the third being a Vineco white merlot) Have to say that this pinot is our favourite and I will be doing it again in the new year. Lovely flavours and crisp/fresh, plus its getting better with age although it was good even on the day of...

    Re: Festival Razorback IPA Review

Mines down to 1008, stuck there for 2 weeks now, should I keg now? I don't think its going to reach 1005. Really the place its brewing in isn't warm enough now but I can't change that short term (short of getting rid of the kids who keep leaving the cupboard door open :hmm: )

    8g CO2 Injector problems

I have two kegs and one is like this, every time I try and inject co2 I get more backfire than go in and makes me jump every time. With the second it goes straight in with a satisfying hiss... On closer inspection the dodgy one isn't as good a fit on the end of the co2 cylinder, the rubber...

    WOW finished, strong tannin note

Been doing kits but now striking out and doing a few WOW variants. Apple variant has been done and in the bottle for a month, tried some last night and its got a strong tannin taste and its in the aroma too. I followed the recipe and put in one teaspoon using a proper "teaspoon" measure...

Newly bottled wine, noticed that its not clear

Did my bottling on sunday, all seemed to go well. Upon opening a bottle last night for a quick taste I notice that its not quite left all the sediment behind, there is some in many of the bottles which is disterbed as soon as you poor, its probably more acrately described as yeast etc from the...

Transfer to wine bottles, sterilise them?

Its a Beaverdale Sauvignon Blanc 30 bottle kit, the owner of the local brew shop told me that it would make a decent bottle so fingers crossed. I think its was in his interests to get me more into the hobby the put me off (I hope)

Transfer to wine bottles, sterilise them?

Ok, fair enough.. Just getting all the stuff ready now  Wouldn't want to spoil it at the last minute. It tastes like "cheep" wine right now, hoping a week or 3 in the bottle will change it!
