a bit of guidence for my 1st biab

As I understand it, 32.6l is the "absolute" total amount of liquor for the batch. Put the 10.7l in your pot and heat up to strike temp, add grains in bag and mash for specified time; while thats going on, heat up the remaining 21.9l; at the end of the mash take the bag out and run the 21.9...

    campden tab in brewing liquor

Afternoon all, might be able to get a brew done tonight, which would be nice!! If I put a campden tab in the liquor to deal with the chlorine, do I need to leave it for 24hrs before using it? or will it be ok to use given 2 or 3 hrs? cheers! g.

    one kettle element or two

thanks all! one follow up question if I may... I'm assuming people have been using the Tesco/Argos kettles for years. Has there been any issue with the elements changing and requiring a different size hole in the pot?

Evening all, doing a little future planning and wondering, if I converted my 33l brew pot to electric, would it be best to go with 2 x 2.2kW elements from an Argos kettle, or would one be sufficient? or do you guys recommend going for something like this -...

    flavour troubleshooting on SNPA clone

Interesting! Earlier this week I was reading through some of the posts on the forum about water treatments and was looking at getting one of the Salifert kits. In total 140g hops went into this. No, I didn't test/treat water for alkalinity for this batch. If it's any indication, my star-san...

    flavour troubleshooting on SNPA clone

yeah, I'm UK. The label just said "Lager malt". I'll leave it for a while longer then; as a new brewer, looks like the waiting is going to be my biggest challenge. Thanks for the advice. I'll try and remember to update the thread when the beer is a bit older.

Brewed on 18 January; bottled straight from primary on 7 Feb after putting fermenter in colder room for a couple of days. really, 2 months? hmm, now that you mention it, i think I had the lid over half the pot towards the end of the boil.
