Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

I would just leave it for about 6 weeks before bottling to let fermentation truly finish and for the yeast to drop out. TC with non-cloudy juice should be perfectly clear. Personally, I drink it flat and last batch just leaft it in the FV for 6 weeks and then started 2l milk cartons out of the...

    Alternatives to bottling cider?

The easiest solution is to learn to love still cider. Then you could use a polypin, or like I did, use a wine fermenter with tap. I used the fermenter and then once fermented aged it on the lees and drank straight from the fermenter - it was still getting better when I finished it with no trace...

    Any folkies?

Give these bands a go. Not particularly mainstream but great bands, especially live: The Whisky Priests - North Eastern thrash folk [youtube:252ka5l1]UZhegwsWr7g[/youtube:252ka5l1] The Saw Doctors - Irish rock [youtube:252ka5l1]TI53n9JbdWc[/youtube:252ka5l1] Spirit of the West - Canadian folk...

Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

Definitely use the guide posted by MattN Don't add any water - you want all the apple flavour you can get. No need to heat anything - TC really is a bung it all in the FV and let it get on with it. The OG of this juice is 1044 but my hydrogenated slightly over reads so probably really 1042...

    Imperial war Museum London

I haven't been to IWM for many years but Duxford is very good if your interest is mostly aircraft. The USAF museum at Duxford is very well presented and the aircrew memorial wall very moving. If you are in the area for a couple of days then going to Old Warden, Bedfordshire, is well worth while...

Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

Now marked as a clearance of a discontinued line - and the pallet was empty. Still, I got 96 litres and looks like a few other people have been lucky too. Got some new cider yeast yesterday so time to get a brew on. Dave

    1st time pizza making

Looking good - I haven't made pizza for many years but used to do them quite regularly. I always used a decent passata for the tomato sauce rather than reducing tinned tomatoes - saves a bit of time standing in front of the stove and the leftover can be used the next day as the basis of a pasta...

Thinking about adding honey to a kit...

I haven't tried stingers but have in TC. 2lbs of honey in 5gal of TC gave a very delicately flavour. I wou,d say that any malt of are hops would massively overpower the honey in any beer with a sensible amount of sugars in it. Dave

    Leaky Tap on Wilko PB

+1 on that - one of mine leaks like a seive if I turn the tap to fully closed but is ok at 3 o'clock. Have a look at tightening the tap in the barrel - my Wilko barrel needed tightening 3 times as the pressure built on its first use - even though it was tight before filling. Dave

    muscovado

It's a strong flavoured sugar so 1kg may well be too much for a first go - I would expect the lager and Wherry to taste really weird with muscovado and would stick to adding into a darker beer. That said I am about to try 1kg in a TC to see if it generates a fuller flavour - no idea what it will...

    Turbo cider on the go...

For the flavour to really develop will take more than a week - I didn't start drinking the TC for about 6 weeks but all the time I was drinking it it was getting better. The acidity mellowed somewhat but you never get a huge apple flavour from the straight juice. I believe OldBloke adds Suma...

Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

Interesting thread as that is saying the value juice is showing at 16p per litre at the tills - I haven't seen this advertised at my Tesco. Seems some stores are not marking it as discounted but are discounting at the till - mine is actively plugging it at 85p and 'customer favourite'. Very...

Thanks for that - I'll give it a try. Dave

Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

I popped in to get some lunch on the way to work and walked past the juice aisle and saw it labeled up at 4 pack 85p 'customer favourite' or something similar. I was disbelieving myself at that price so took one pack and put it through the self checkout to confirm the price - put my lunch in the...

Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

I was in Tesco today and saw Tesco apple juice pure from concentrate at 85p for a 4×1 Litre multipack. Sugar content is 11.1 g / 100ml. I came out with 48 litres of juice plus so e honey and molasses sugar for a couple of batches of TC. Hope this helps someone. Dave

    Uses for perry

Was this a special as I haven't seen it in Aldi before. If this is a flat true perry I would be happy to give it a try at that price. Dave

    First attempt at cider

Good luck with your cider - I tried making cider from apples for the first time last Autumn. It's still in DJs and will be for several more months before drinking (flat). It's looking beautifully clear now but I am still resisting. My turbo cider was started after the real stuff and has already...

    Dry Hopping Wherry with Citra

Playing devils advocate, have you tried the Wherry brewed as-is to know it needs extra hops or to know the Citra has improved the flavour? Would it be worth brewing the kit and then splitting into two batches and dry hoping one of them? I think that is the route I would try as it would give a...

    Painting stair spindles

Depends what you are after. Current oil based paints give the best gloss but yellow really quickly (think weeks or months, not years and the less sunlight they get the quicker it yellows). Acrylics don't flow as well and don't keep a wet edge for more than a few seconds but keep their whiteness...
