    Sanitising plastic bottles using bleach.

In a regular sink, what quantities of bleach to water am I looking at? Do they need to sit in sink or filled and shaken etc? Obviously a good rinse is a gimme.

    coopers Stout

It was only in there a week! OG of 1.040, after 3 Days it was down to 1.010 but stinking and tasted horrendous. I did notice a bad smell as I was mixing it all in. Like a rotten vegetable, cabbage smell...

    coopers Stout

You wouldn't add any treacle or dark sugar then? Do they complicate things? Another newbie question is brew enhancer the same as spray malt? Heard of Can and kilo but what parts would you use to make up the kilo? Opening it up can lead to infection? Good to know. Have to avoid temptation and...

    coopers Stout

Need to take more care perhaps. I'm using some baby steriliser as seen on what's brewing uk video. Little angles or Milton. Know Starsan would be better but got this already. Trying not to let it put me off as I really enjoy it.

    coopers Stout

Hi guys. Brewer loosing heart here :) binned a Wherry this morning as it absolutely stunk and had what looked like mould bits on top. Tasted foul too. Gutted. Did pitch the yeast at a high temp, would this have caused it? Anyway, sticking to cheaper kits until I succeed, so going to start a...

Quite a bit of sediment already

Where does it come from? I didn't add any solids obviously as it's a 2 can kit.

Quite a bit of sediment already

Did only my second brew earlier today, a Woodfordes wherry. First gravity reading was 1.040, brewed to 23l but pitched yeast on the warmer side. Have started dropping the temperature. Noticed there is quite a lot of sediment at the bottom of FV already. Why and what would this be?

    On course? Salvageable? Help please...

Thanks guys, will leave it a while and then bottle it and see. Added brew enhancer 1 and some dry malt extract. Any value in stiring or adding more yeast? Will the taste develop then? Get stronger and lose the wateriness?

    On course? Salvageable? Help please...

Thank you both and will do. You wouldn't bin it yet then? Really want this to work. Tasted it earlier too, tasted like a very watery Hoegaarden.

First time brewer, brewing Coopers wheat beer to 23l. Fermenting 13 days now between 18 and 22 C. Original gravity at around 1.040. Measured after 1 week, dropped to 1.020. Measured again today, may have slightly dropped to 1.018ish. Is this on course? Seems slow or am I just impatient? Do I...

Hydrometer reading after 1 week (Wheat beer first time)

So leave it fermenting? Does it sound as if it's going as it should?

Hydrometer reading after 1 week (Wheat beer first time)

Started off about 1.040 and today measuring around 1.020. Does this sound on course? Should I keep it at fermenting temp? Thanks again for advice.

    All looking good, I think...

Day 6 and ive just removed the Krausen collar. Im hoping that its all gone ok, good collar of gunk, smelling like a beer and not a lot of foam on top. What should the next step be? Planning on taking a reading tomorrow and then aiming to bottle maybe next weekend consistent reading permitting...
