    problem!!! help please.

If you don't have an alternative at hand, keep going. I would extend my hop addition times, but I can not even begin to guess by how Look up hop bursting. But this may affect any hop additions you have already added.

    eBay etiquette

You have the option to set a reserve on the item you are selling, if you don't want to sell it for less, don't put it up. Sniping is a natural form of bidding to purchase the item you want for the least amount of money. Bid early- drive the price up. It's basic maths.

    help bypassing thermostat

The element itself got too hot (this is what the switch actually monitors, not the water content) and melted the active and neutral wires underneath together. Boom!! House into darkness, burnt wort - compete mess.

    help bypassing thermostat

I don't recommend bypassing. I did this and it cost me an element get the upgrade cut off switch.

    First brew and broken hydrometer

Ha! I meant to type 14 days, 15 would work too.

    First brew and broken hydrometer

You will be fine mate, the hydrometer is simply to check gravity readings. My father has been brewing coopers kits around 30 years and he doesn't ever use a hydrometer. Leave it in the fermenter for 15 days and then bottle it and you will be fine. I do recommend getting a hydrometer though as...

    simmered not boiled wort

You should be fine if it was simmering, the only thing I would be worried about is the amount if evaporation would have been less, this would only effect your gravity so you will end up with a larger quantity at a lower abv. No major drama. The effect on the hop additions I believe would be...

    extracting bitterness from hops

It's probably worth mentioning that it's the oils extracted out of the hops that contain the AA's so even if you used hop bags, the AA's in the already extracted oils will continue to bitter while boiling.

    extracting bitterness from hops

Perhaps I should have clarified by saying I don't use hop bags, so everything from the boil goes into the cube. As there is no chill the Hops are exposed to hot wort temperatures which still extract AA's until the temperature drops. Therefore the longer you boil, the more is extracted. I...

    Breaking bottles while bottling?

Nobody can help you if you are not organised. I now have a 400+ bottle collection with only two various sizes. Adjust your collecting to minimize the problem or stick with the hand held capper and accept the collateral damage they appear to cause.

    extracting bitterness from hops

As far as the no chill method is Concerned. The rule of thumb is to decrease hop addition time by 20 mins. So 60 minute bittering addition is actually added at 40 min point of the boil. 20 min addition at flame out Flame out addition into the cube after whirlpool. I believe chilling is...

    Breaking bottles while bottling?

Sorry meant to mention I have been brewing for 12 years with a bench capper and I cannot recall ever having a bottle break.

Bench capers are the easiest and you...

    Fermenting fridge - questions

Don't over think the temp. Ambient temperature will always give you a great result unless you open the "fridge too often". This will kick the cooling or heating elements in more often than needed. Relax, set the temp and walk away until you believe fermentation is complete. Roughly speaking...

    Fermentation Temperature

At those temps you should be ok with ale yeasts. Allowing for heat produced by the brew itself you should be right, just allow more fermentation time.

BREWMAKER HIGH GRAVITY VICTORIAN BITTER REVIEW

My rule of thumb is. Forget the brew for 14 days after yeast added (ale). Then bottle. Forget again for 1 month. The only reason this is broken is inpatient behavior from me ( not good for beer). If you are in a hurry for beer. Go buy a box. If you want to make good beer, learn patience or...

    Relieving pressure from kegs

If you are planning on cutting them for boilers and so forth simply drill a hole, it's co2 not a flammable gas and the pressure isn't enough to blow a stainless keg. I converted a keg into a camp stove and simply used my grinder to cut. If you are trying to save the kegs for refilling then...
