Commercial Road brought back a memory though.
Back in 1962, I threw my helmet into the back of the car and me and the Driving Examiner just seemed to know that I would pass my Driving Test.
He gave the usual speech about “When I tap on the dashboard I want you to do an Emergency Stop.” and chose to do it along Commercial Road about 10 minutes later.
He tapped the dashboard and shouted “STOP!” I turned to him and said “What?”
The Examiner relaxed, I realised what he wanted me to do, hit the brakes and clutch and The Examiner finished up plastered against the windscreen!
The Examiner lived in Louth and as expected I passed first time!
