My mate in work has a vintage mini in super condition...I recon its getting on for 15k or more now.
I always liked the mini when i was a nipper but when i was in my teens i got the chance to drive one and it put me off for life.
My first car was a 998cc Austin Mini Cooper. Not the more common Cooper S which had the 1275cc engine.
Mushroom with a white roof, what colours we had back in the '70s. OK to 85 MPH but faster than that was pushing such a small engine. Acceleration was good with the twin 14mm carburettors though.

My parents have a 1957 Austin 7 in red. The original Mini.
I liked the Mini I had in the later 80s until I discovered how much rust it had.
Bottom of the door panels? Water used to run down the windows past the poor seals and collect inside the door. And then rust its way out

How things have changed. Modern cars don't rust like they used to. There were two speed measurements in those days, how fast does she go, and how fast does she rust.
Italian cars were fast in those days, and they could travel quickly as well.

in 1981 I had a 998cc P reg 1975 mini in 'mr bean green', bought after i passed my test. I loved it, and recently checked autotrader to see how much a restored classic mini goes for now - twas much more than i expected, and would love to drive one again, they have so much more personality than the new bmw versions.
