How very annoying.
 
Thats what happened on my first ag brew day, we where watching intently then the second theres a distraction it boiled over everywhere.
 
I've never had a boil over, do not know if I am lucky or doing something that stops it but can not think what and thats in years of brewing.
 
I did the biggest batch I have done today and had my kettle as full as I dared - as the boil approached I watched it intently and slightly nervously to try to avoid just that. I hope you got back on track
 
I normally watch it/hang around but I went and made a brew, I thought with only 1 element running and the PID turned down to 75% I’d be safe.

Guess not.

After 60 mins it was really baked in to the outside of the kettle.
 
Did you lose much? because a little can go a long way to looking like a volcanic eruption
 
Nothing will test your marriage / relationship like a nice boil over on SWMBO's freshly cleaned stove top. For extra points get it on the freshly cleaned floor too.
