Hi all,

Does anybody know of a fairly strong pale ale or a bitter of which I can make and have fermented in about 6 weeks.

I will be using the BIAB method and I have a electrim boiler.

I am not after something to hoppy but I do like a recipe with a bit of a taste to it.

Thanks

Hello, I’m fairly new to AG brewing (just completed my 10th brew) but one of my favourites so far has been a recipe based on Ruddles County. It came in around 5% and was very drinakable and quantities are for a 25litre batch:

16.5 litres mash @ 65.6C for 75 mins
Sparge with 20 litres at 75.6

5.15kg Pale Malt
0.22kg Caramel/ Crystal Malt

25g Northdown @ 60mins
20g Challenger @ 60 mins
25g East Kent Goldings @ 15 mins

Irish moss for clearing and a sachet of Nottingham Yeast

I’ve also done a clone of Jaipur which is my absolute favourite although quite hoppy so have not included it here. Happy to add it if you are interested!!

Like I said, I’m fairly new to this game so not sure if there are better options.....if there are, let me know please!!

Cheers

Andy

Another vote for Greg Hughes ESB recipe, bottled mine last week and it tasted good out of the FV.

Matt, it was indeed a 25 litre brew. Try it, I hope you won’t be disappointed!!

I brewed a 4.5% dark bitter 3 days ago and will bottle it tomorrow morning, 2 weeks in bottle and I will start drinking it...can't see your problem....

Hi Sky Blue, I like the look of your recipe I'll give it a go soonest. I was actually on the forum looking for a Life and Death clone but your brew should keep me busy until one appears for a serious comparison test.
Merry Xmas

Any of them, just use Kveik yeast and ferment at 40 degrees C. I should imagine it would be excellent in the Graham Wheeler Fullers ESB clone for example. lol
