I emailed them this morning to ask about the EBC colour and have received a very quick reply not only confirming its 5 EBC along with the malt spec sheet but also to tell me they are sending the first of the 2019 barley @Leon103
:hat: athumb..

I've ordered a sack of Pops pale.
Does anyone know how to convert their IOB colour number into EBC?
acheers.

According to their website EBC colour visual is 5. When I got mine before they opened the online store they sent me a copy of the malt analysis and at the time I worked it out to be 2 LOV. I don't think that quite ties with 5 EBC but much of a muchness maybe?

EDIT
Didn't see your post above.

Wanted to add an update to this thread as I'm currently drinking the ipa I made with this malt, @ 100%, with citra & mosaic.
I know I've mentioned on the 'what are you drinking thread' but I'm really impressed and wanted to give a recommendation.
I got significantly better extraction than expected and it went from 1.061 to 1.012 for 6.5% ABV.
It got a lovely slightly sweet malty background and really doesn't need anything else with it in this kind of beer.
I'll defo be buying another sack and doing a few more single malt hoppy IPAs.
acheers.

Lockdown restrictions should be a lot more lax when I need more grain so I think I’ll use these lot and collect the grain from them.

It’s funny you should mention the more than expected extraction rate from their malt, I purchased a 25kg bag of POPS Pale Ale Malt from "Crafty Maltsters" and I’ve done three brews using it, they all came out much higher OG than I was aiming for in the brew calculators I am using which normally tell me exactly what to expect. My next brew I think I will reduce the amount of malt to compensate but happy with their malt for sure.

On Dan's recommendation I contacted them and we discussed postage costs. They have managed to negotiated a business rate with parcelforce so we should see cheaper prices soon

Nice one, I will using them again, defo.

Good stuff.
They are active on the scottish craft brewers facebook page too. I'll either take advantage of the new rates or make the shortish drive over the forth when its safer to do so and they offer collection.

They do offer collection, they joined one of the FB Homebrew groups and I asked them. They said if I’m collecting and they are quiet they might show me around If I want.
