Was recently given an almost new 20l tea urn. My plan is to use it as a mash tun for my partial mash brewing, i no longer do full A/G brew's, because i dont want to boil large volume's, and to be honest i have done some great pimped kit's, just by adding mashed grain. I have tested the urn, and it drop's 1 degree over a 1 hour period, with a quilted jacket as insulation. Cant wait to give it a bash :) IMG_0013.JPG

It looks very much like something I picked up many decades ago. Ex-military, I understand, but it came via our local scout group. Is it just an insulated water container with no heating element and quite a small lid at the top? If so, they make excellent mash tuns although it's a bit tricky getting the mash strainer in and out again. You can't heat it on a gas ring, by the way, as the base is insulated, too.
