Whilst it's great to be optimistic about this stuff quite a few people / businesses seem to be taking these dates as a given and are expecting to have a massive p*ss up on June 21st or whatever date it is. No masks, no social distancing, everyone hugging, etc. I fear the reality may be a somewhat different picture to what is being painted and each date is provisional based on the infection rates / hospital admissions staying in check. Then you have the new variants to contend with. Finger crossed it happens and all....

But anyway, I'm a miserable, introverted so and so who for the most part hates socialising, so long may lone beers in the back garden continue. Unfortunately I have to put up with my wife and kids as we share a house 😁

I have a feeling you are right and to be honest i hope its not like the picture being painted as i fear we would be back to something like square one after a few months.

I've had exactly the same thoughts. Come the date people will be pointing the fingers at the government saying they had failed on another promise when in reality a lot of people have taken provisional dates and run with them. There will be tears.

Edit: I should probably add that I'm from Wales so none of this matters anyway.

as long as there is still in beer i'll drink it wherever.
if there's no beer i can fabricate suitable liquids from ingredients that are readily available (assuming sugar is at least).
while i would really like to nip to the pub for a couple i can create a pleasant atmosphere home (alone).
after seeing the reaction of certain scottish football supporters at the weekend i can happily avoid social gatherings for quite some time to come.

Don't like people much, prefer dogs.
Can make alcohol out of pretty much any fruit/vegetable/grain....

...Don't bother me at all whether the pubs ever re-open or not.

I am not chomping at the bit to get back into a pub the only time we go into pubs is for the occasional family get together but these are few and far between i do however hope they can all open again so many peoples lives depend on them not just direct jobs but the jobs of all companies that supply them, would we really like a town centre without pubs (a small selection from our town centre)

Well. I’m ready for a pub crawl.
This is why so many THBF members live in Sandbach.

I hope this isn’t a paywalled article...

“During the 17th century, the town was famous for its ale. Now they prefer to drink it than to make it.”... I beg to differ. I prefer to make it then drink it too.

I haven’t counted lately but there were 21 pubs within a few hundred yards of each other last time I did.
