The best band. The one you would recommened to the most people.

Mine is the Afghan Whigs. A soul rock band who for 25 years have released great albums. Not enough people know of them.

Frei.Wild of course ;)

You guys probably have no clue what the songs are about, but they have quite some good songs with strong texts. Especially this song and "Eines Tages" have a special meaning to me. Unfortunately the band recently split after 15 years.

Opeth. Their albums 'Blackwater Park' and 'Still Life' are, for me, the perfect blend of heavy and melodic, layers of sound and complexity. If heavy music isn't to your taste, then 'Damnation' might be a more appealing album.

Madness ...

... or Grimethorpe Colliery Band ...

... because they both provide a wide variety of memories. :thumb:

Gerryjo, bet you listen to Planet Rock! For me it's gotta be Led Zep. Transient favourites come and go but I always gravitate back to them and ponder how everything else is dust in the wind ( Kansas were alright, too)! 40 years and still not bored of them.

Kansas were and still are classic rock an era of which I'm totally fond of and you're bang on for some reason I'm stuck in a loop cause I keep going back to tunes particularly from the late 70's,80's and early 90's given roughly a 20 year span and guaranteed you will find some of the best music you can ever listen too.But I'll guarantee that not that particular era but the 20 year span will apply to a lot of people 🍺🎵

Yeah Led Zeppelin were on their own as was each and every band that struck a chord on a heart of their listeners.

Led Zep for me for the same reasons.

With the thread full of rock and metal, which I do love, but I'm going to tone it down a little with the Barenaked Ladies pre-2011 (Steve Page left in 2009 then they released one of their finest albums without him in 2010, but the 2 albums since have been incredibly MOR).

Most of my favourite musicians are solo artists though - Ben Folds, Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, Ben Harper (there is a pattern emerging there, guess what my son's called), Ryan Adams, Pete Yorn.

Best band ever? Interesting question :hmm: Personal taste, musical style, what you are exposed to, and when the band were active must come into it. For example, was Led Zeppelin 'better' than the Count Basie Band. And which band has been more influential over the years? The Beatles, agree or not, shaped modern music. Or did they? What about swing bands from the early 40s, or the early jazz bands from the 20s and 30s?
I haven't got a 'favourite' band of all time, although I have a few in mind that could fit the description, so I think I'll leave it to you lot to sort out :thumb:

Current or historically? Current would be the struts a retro gkam rock band with a vocalist to rival the great Freddie mercury, historically well almost everyone loved the Beatles along with me but I would have to plump for peter greens Fleetwood mac

I have a few CDs mixed for the car and put a mixture of my favourite bands on them but times I wonder why as I always end up picking a few songs to repay.PS TOTO Africa just came on the Radio

Big Business, although they're a bit niche for most people. But I love them. Highly recommended for any stoner rock fans out there, or even those into heavier rock.

I like a bit of stoner rock (Fu Manchu, Nebula and Kyuss mainly but I'm not particularly knowledgeable about the genre) but I couldn't get into BB. They just lacked a bit of "oomph" for me, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what was missing. I might give them another go at some point though.
