I’ve just been entering some figures from some bottled water into the water calculator as I’m thinking of using it instead of my tap water. I have figures for calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulphate and chloride, but instead of any total alkalinity/carbonate figures I just have a Ph value of 6.2.

How do I put this into the water calculator to see what additions I need?

Thanks

You could enter the values that you have and then manipulate the alkalinity value until your mEq's of cations and anions are balanced.

pH 6.2? That rings a bell. Is it Ashbeck by any chance? If so then it's 25 (bicarbonate).

This may or may not be of any help.... Iv'e used Ashbeck in the past for some very crude water chemistry adjustments, with my very hard Thames Water,. The beers came out very well, considering I didn't use any scientific method...

Porter/Stout - 1 part Ashbeck - 3 parts tap water
Mild/Amber/Brown ale - 2 part Ashbeck - 2 parts tap water
Bitter/Pale Ale/IPA - 3 part Ashbeck - 1 parts tap water
Blonde/Golden Ale - 100% Ashbeck

Nowadays I go down the slippery slope of adding this and that to my water...
