All this talk of Boddington made me think of "20 PINTS " a classic tune by 'The MACC LADS'.I had to listen on you tube...ahh mispent youth.

I recall Boddies as good pint back in the day before they rebranded, widgeted etc. Whitbread gave a few of the classics the widget treatment round then - castle eden, flowers, beamish

Boddingtons is tasteless nitro pish. It's impossible to get drunk of if you're over 15. It's an ideal schoolrun / bus driving beer.

You know, I've never had boddingtons. Is that a mercy?
Years ago when brewed in Manchester Boddies was an OK pint, although perhaps an acquired taste, similar to Stones from Sheffield. It's now sold in cans and as 'nitro-keg' and brewed on Mars so it probably tastes nothing like it used to. Another beer trading on past associations.

Btw, Hobgoblin now comes in a different shape bottle, which means my hand-capper can now cap them rather than shearing the top off!

But when my hand-capper finally expires (1980's twin-lever metal capper from Boots), I'll probably go for a bench capper.

Label removing morning. The labels come off very easily on those Aldi Das Helle’s. The beer doesn’t taste that great though!

Edit: Brewdog labels also came off very nicely.

I’m unsure if the grimbergen bottles are less coloured or thin? (Ripe for the bin)

Same here, I was nervous after reading the previous comments but used a couple of hobgoblin gold bottles in my recent batch without issues :)
