Bottling day

I've finally got round to bottling the Beaverdale Merlot kit I got for my birthday. I'm using a mixture of corking and screw top wine bottles. What I'm wondering is whether I need to do anything with the corks, ie. washing them before I cork the bottles? It's a new pack of corks which hasn't been opened yet

some say not to, some say do, i give them a quick dip in starsan just to rinse off any cork bits and it makes sure its sanitized.

I also dip mine in freezing cold water to shrink them ever so slightly, makes them go in easier !!
