Hi Everyone,

I was just looking at a youtube video where someone opened a bottle of their strawberry cider and it went everywhere and was clearly over carbonated. The person in the video said it was becuase he didn't take a gravity reading before bottling.

My question then is if you take a gravity reading then how do you know how much sugar to use for priming for a good cider carbonation assuming using 500ml bottles?

He probably meant that it hadn't finished fermenting before he bottled it ,because he didnt take any gravity readings he wouldn't have realised, and so it carried on in a sealed bottle and became overcarbonated.I used 1 teaspoon suger per 500ml bottle for sparkling cider.
