Hi all
I was thinking of the idea of a side by side wine chiller heater, noticed some models are fridge one side 0-10 degrees and heater 15-25 degrees has anyone anything like this that you could fit a 25L fermenter inside ??

I've just built a fermentation fridge using an undercounter fridge that I picked up on Freecycle. It comfortably fits a 25L fermenter with an airlock on top. I used an STC1000 thermostat (£8 on Ebay) and 60W greenhouse heater (£10 on Ebay). I built the box to house the STC1000 and sockets from some 6mm MDF I had lying around in the garage. I also had a couple of spare 13A sockets. Total cost £18. Here it is in action.

This is fridge porn:

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by side-by-side. Do you have a link to something that would shed more light on it?

Most people just grab a cheap fridge second-hand (plenty on Facebook, Ebay, Gumtree etc), install a greenhouse heater and use an inkbird ITC-308 to control the temperature.

@-Bezza- The guy who owns those fridges will have the full Makita shadow board in the triple garage... All the gear and no idea I think!

Poke the sensor up through the drain hole to complete the build pal!

The setup as shown in post #2 will almost definitely be better than what you've suggested.

Sorry but the fridge porn is what I’m looking for !! just need to measure my FV and make sure they will fit, who’s are they so o can contact them ??
Americans

Some Americans I guess. Glass fronted fridges aren't hard to get hold of. They can just be a lot more expensive.

Was Looking at the side by side idea as I notice one fridge could be set 5-10 deg and other 15-25 deg ideal for fermenting ales and lagers and then also lagering !! Just the sizes were on the small size. But then you could also use as a worktop

You want one fridge with an independent temperature controller per FV.

The idea is that the temperature controller bypasses the fridge's original thermostat (a lot of us link them out entirely) to maintain a consistent temperature, i.e. 19C for an ale, 14C for a lager or whatever temp you want.

If the temperature goes too high, the fridge turns on, too low and a space heater turns on.

What you have described would do the job to a certain degree, but it doesn;t take into consideration the temperature of your fermenting wort as the thermostat is measuring ambient air temp, not the beer temp. Whatsmore is that your concept would be a damn sight more expensive than a couple of undercounter fridges stacked on top of each other, plus two STC-1000 controllers (or ITC-308 if you're not sure on wiring) and a couple of 60W tubular space heaters.

Post #2 is really what you want. It's the cheapest and best option IMO, I have three of the buggers - the most expensive fridge being £15, the cheapest was free...

I see where your coming from but sounds technical for me clapa
I’ve an electronical engineer friend I’ll quiz him,
