Apologies if this has been covered in the past - I am new to this forum. I have a Brew Monk which I only use as a programmable boiler and pump. I get occasional problems with element power. My normal practice is to bring the wort to about 95C using the element on 2500W. I then hit pause and reduce the element power to 1600W for the boil itself. However the power has remained at 2500W on several occasions, giving some spectacular boil-overs. I distrust the controller so much that I now disconnect the unit from the mains at 95C, short out the live and earth pins on the plug to discharge the large capacitor (which is on the mains input side of the switches - not good) and then plug the whole lot back in and start again with it set to 1600W and 100C. Has anyone else experienced this?
