went totally off script with this.. just tried a sample from my FG reading.. tastes bloody amazing.. I may have added a little extra hops in however.

OG: 1.066
FG:1.013

ABV: 7.35%

Can i assume about 0.2% extra when I carb with 100g sugar? so finishing bang on 7.5% as it said on the box

After just 6 days conditioning I gave in and tried one straight out the fridge, it is really lovely , gonna struggle to keep this till summer

had a f*****g nightmare today bottling this.. with one disater including (but by no means limited to) somebody leaning over the bucket and talking, their half sucked nicorette lozenge falling out of their mouth.. yup, guess where it landed

I set this up again today. It's the best out of my 8 initial kits. I added 20+20 citra and pacific jade and will add the other 2 at the end. I also shorted it to 21 litres as I like a very strong gargle.
I did the bad cat but it turned out very flat and low on flavour in comparison.
Getting sufficient carbonation is turning out to be a problem for me in spite of using recommended amounts. Even carbonation drops were less than fizzy when I used them in Coopers Irish stout.

I hope you've parted ways with this fool!

I may have piddled myself re timing. I'm away during expected bottling period and forgot to check this...I'm certainly not rushing to get it done early, so will it be fine 26 days in FV, hopping at day 24? I could hop at day 17 but won't if it doesn't end up smelling very hoppy.

Did I say hop enough?

I'm about to bottle my second one of these and as a bit of a newbie it's definitely the nicest kit I've brewed so far.

The only question I have regarding this, when I took the OG reading it came in at around 1.090 which seems extremely excessive. The hydrometer is fine in that it measures 1.000 in water, so what could have caused such a high initial reading? I followed the guidelines and brewed to 23l so really don't know how it could've been so high?

How did the nicorette lozenger taste?..did it add anything?..sorry but had to laugh

I've got this in the keg now and it tastes much better after a few days than it did originally.
It's very very cloudy though, anyone know what the conditioning time is likely to be?
Can I use gelatine to clear it after I've force carbed it or is it too late?

I set this kit away just yesterday, and its bubbling away in the conservatory once every 5 seconds, with a good foamy head on it.

Looking forward to getting the hop bags in it in just over a week, then conditioning in 5l kegs and a small number of bottles for giving to friends.

Really can't wait to get a taste of it - the wort was tasty enough!

1st post. Made a few kits but first time for this one. Used kit yeast the 10g version. Very little airlock activity by day 4. A bit on day 3 only. Had a peek and there is a small krausen that doesn't cover the whole surface of the beer even. Smells good. Just wondering

1 whether to pitch a us05 to help out the small original yeast packet

2 I have 150g citra 50g Rakau and 50g Ekuanot. Would that be a lot for dry hopping

3 Do I add all the hops together or in stages and when

Grateful for any help although this is getting to be an old thread now.

Second homebrew kit since a break from homebrewing of 20 odd years. I'd pitched the yeast at 28° so I was worried it was too hot and would fail. Fermented it at 20° using an inkbird. Stopped bubbling on day 18, so took a reading using a hydrometer and got 1005. Have just added the hops and plan to bottle in 2 days time. The sample I took was clear and tasted lovely, nothing like what I remember homebrew tasting. Just hope it tastes this good after bottling and conditioning!

Doing one of these myself, looks stuck at 1010, still nearly 7% tho
