Anyone else tried the Campden Powder from Ritchies instead of the Campden Tablets from Youngs?
I was fed up crushing those tablets (always losing half of it on the floor or in the corner of the kitchen top) and found a shop that sells Campden Powder instead. Works a treat for me!
I don't think it gives different results, but that's why I wanted to know if anyone else has tried both.

It's just Sodium or Potassium Metabisulphite. You can probably get a kilo of it on ebay for a few quid.

Ah, that's an excellent suggestion!
Although I'm not sure if it is too suspicious getting a kilo of white powder delivered to your door? ;)

I've been using campden tablets for about 40 years and don't recall crushing them ever being a problem.
Certainly not enough to warrant me changing.
Put one on a t-spoon, then crush with the back of another t-spoon

I have found the older they get the harder they are to crush by their sell by date they are like little rocks.
