I'm doing a few brews that are going into small beer bottles.
These things can be closed with a crown cap but the seal I'm getting from a lever capper is a bit unreliable because there isn't a proper lip on the bottle for the capper to grip.
20 years ago, you used to be able to by clout cappers that you whacked with a mallet and I'm thinking that one of these would be just the job for sealing the caps properly.
Can you still buy them ?

You'd be better off with a bench capper - less chance of cracking your bottles. :thumb:

Which reminds me, I must add one to my shopping list due to the growing collection of Bu*****er bottles which are a bitch to cap with a two lever job...

I used them years ago and still shudder at the thought............

No you're best to keep a spare. If I don't go down the bench route, i'm sure i can find one in a local HBS or boot sale.

I preferred the cloutcapper to the two-handle one I had.
With a newspaper under the bottle for minimal cushioning and a rubber mallet it was simple enough, safe enough, and less effort.
Got a bench capper now though!
