I want to go from the gas hob to electric, I have been looking at all the DIY and store bought options but wondered if anyone has any cheap alternatives.
I have a budget of about £50-£70. I have looked at getting a plastic FV and adding cheap kettle elements, but that seems to work out a bit more now, £15 for a FV and £9 per kettle plus taps. Still very cheap but almost in the region of 2nd hand equipment.
Do i just wait and keep an eye on FB marketplace/ebay or should i just make the jump and make one (prefer not to make one) or buy new

I had a little go...

You want stainless, I've never been comfortable with 25l on the boil in plastic nor should you be.

Secondhand, FB marketplace, evilbay and so on.

Completly agree. That was just a polykeg to test my bad electrics. It works... so i will be moving it into stainless with a 2nd element

I just bought a 40L Buffalo urn on ebay last week for £80. It is brand new but had a couple of small dents which don't make any difference to how it works hence why it was cheap. There are loads of 30l urns on there around £80 new.

I have just been given a brewpot (30l i think, not checked)

It needs a bit of a clean and the element connectors need some tlc.
But there is no earth... can i just attach the earth to the pot?
