I'm very used to making beer starters and have a stirplate and erlenmeyer flask. I make a lot of TC and usually throw in whatever beer or cider yeast I have - so far it's been sachets of dry yeast which don't need starters, or I'll pitch yeast from straight from a beer fermenter.
Last autumn I made cider from apples and I saved the yeast once fermentation was done. It's been sitting in my fridge for a couple of months and I'd like to use it in my next batch of TC (these are usually 4-5litres). If I was making a beer, I'd make a yeast starter before I pitched the yeast to "wake it up" from being in the fridge for so long. Do I need to do this with cider yeast and if so how do I make the starter?
