Hi everyone,
Many of you have probably noticed that I haven't been brewing as often as I'd like to recently. Over the last few months I've been putting every waking minute into our new venture and I thought it was time to share our new business on here.
Our inspiration for the Corky Winers came back in May 2019 whilst we were on a wine road trip through Champagne and the Alsace. As we travelled through France, we came across many small towns, clearly with the majority of residents making their living from the wine they produced. These were towns, villages and producers who we had never heard of. We stopped off, knocked on doors, spoke to locals, tasted their wine and filled up our car (it would be rude not to). We realised how so many people in the UK were missing out on the gems we had just stumbled across and the seed for the Corky Winers was planted.
When the pandemic hit I was placed on furlough from my job in aviation. Shortly afterwords, I was placed at risk of redundancy. So rather than doing nothing I decided to make the best of things and use these events as an opportunity to start my own wine and craft beer delivery business.
My fiancé and I launched Corky Winers in August 2020. We are based near Maldon, Essex and specialise in delivering fine wine, craft beer, artisan cheeses and luxury gifts. We import the majority of our wines ourselves, many of which aren't available anywhere else in the UK. We have a range of craft beer including Verdant, Cloudwater & Firebrand and I'm gradually adding more to the website as we continue to grow.
I think 2021 will be a fantastic year for us. We've just imported a pallet of wines from Burgundy, from a small producer in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, which have never been sold in the UK before. I'm hoping to get my home brewery licensed to brew small batches of beer for the website this year (watch this space!)
