All my life i have stayed in the of bounds of the law worked hard payed my dues, did lockdown when told had my jabs 3 of, then i find out these feckers are pissing up my back and sticking their fingers up to the good folks of this great nation, we will still be sensible and have a family Christmas as for another lockdown Boris and co can feck off, and to use their words hear hear ha ha ha order order I SAY ORDER
We will have our Christmas celebrations in a risk reduced way following the science NOT the political dictats. The politicians are Uber scared of anything that will look bad in the press. Eg overflowing hospitals & office shindigs during lockdown etc.

Just as I reduce the risk of crossing the road by looking when I cross and not by burying my head in my phone.

We're all double or triple jabbed btw. Our households can sit 2m apart and we ventilate the 🏠 as necessary. We went to brewdog on Tuesday at 12:00 we were the only 2 customers there until 1:30 when 2 more popped in.

Often the government advice has been more risky than our precautions. So yup they can do a runner.

Just heard from my son that he has received his PCR test result this morning (following a precautionary LFT test yesterday because he was feeling a bit rough), and it was +ve. He and his family are cautious and sensible about mask wearing, distancing and socialising, and both he and his wife are double jabbed plus recent boosters . . . . . but he still managed to pick it up from somewhere. Fortunately nobody else in his household has tested +ve yet, and he appears to be generally OK so far. . . . . . . So, that's our big family Christmas off for another year.

The lesson to take from this is that nobody is completely safe, and it is really not a good idea to follow the lemmings over the cliff just because they broke their own rules and (presumably) got away with it by managing not to infect each other. Spite and revenge have a habit of coming back to bite you on the ar5e

If that's what you want to do fair enough its your family and your risk but I don't think this "well some of the Tories ignored the rules so feck em" mentality I am hearing on 5 live this morning is the best way forward, one guy even said he hasn't had a vaccine but because he has had Covid and some of his family are jabbed he will carry on with his plans to have a family Christmas.
Totally agree, best post of this entire thread. Just because a Tory was shagging his PA in his office doesn't mean I do it, why would I have a party if it was against the law. Well said Chippy

I think it's fair to say opinion is split. But I think people saying "just because they do it, I wouldnt" are missing the point. Consistently throughout this pandemic the government have either lied, given false promises, used very skewed data and eroded basic civil liberties without consideration. At the beginning myself and the majority went along with this as we were led to believe there was an end in sight and it was the right thing to do as a citizen of the U.K.
It doesn't matter if they had one party or 300 of the blessed things, the fact is the so called leaders of this country showed scant regard for anyone else but themselves. People couldn't see relatives, people died without any sort of goodbye, business and jobs lost, the worst mental health crisis unfolding we will have ever seen. I'm not sticking it to the man as someone said upthread I've now decided that myself and my family will take personal responsibility for ourselves and be courteous for other people and what they want to do. If you think that once they get Covid passes in for permissions to do things that they will stop there trust me it won't, before you know it we'll be in some authoritarian social credit system where the things we did before will be out of reach for some. I'm triple jabbed, I've tried my best for nearly 2 years to tow the line but for me and many others I know we say no more. Some will agree some won't and for those who don't I will be considerate of you. Good luck to all. Cheers 🍻

I am now in the feck em camp, to lead a nation means by example not ripping the rule book up and flushing down the bog, and the one's who wern't having partys were raking it in on the ppe gravy train, the Tory party is tainted from top to bottom

So during lockdown 1 were you willing to risk your family by driving the length of the country to stay with in-laws?

They are all corrupt and do what they like, doesn't mean everyone acts thr same way.

I think a lot of people want to act had they want because there is now a less risk to their life compared to 1st lockdown.

I hope everyone that breaks any law gets caught.

Agreed, that's why the behavior of our leaders will not change how i've approached the pandemic. i.e. avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces regardless of whether the govt follows their own advice. They do leave themselves wide open to being labeled self-centred hypocrites.

Those of us who have got at least two brain cells to rub together, know by now what to do to try to keep ourselves safe. We know what precautions to take and we balance the risks we know we're going to take anyway with extra precautions. Even so, we can still get caught out like @Hop_it 's lad has done. Those who haven't even a single brain cell to count among them: the anti-vaccers, the mask refusers, the knobs who wear a mask under their nose, etc. are not going to play safe anyway and they don't give a damn about you and me- we're too tolerant of these people.
But it isn't about the virus it's about the leaders. These said leaders have led us wrong from the very beginning. Their first and only concern has been to trouser as much public cash for themselves and their mates by whatever means possible, while using the virus to fog all their mis-management of relations with Europe, all their mis-management of "foreign" workers including health staff, all their mis-management of international relations, their complete feck-up of COP etc, etc.
Get real. We live in a world which has a new deadly virus in the same way that we live in a world where the sun rises in the morning. We're stuck with that. We're not stuck with the idiots who are rubbing their hands together with glee because Covid has been the greatest give they've ever had. Let's imagine, for argument's sake, that the virus were to disappear overnight. Where would our attention be focussed then?
It's absolutely about the Tory Party.

Whatever is determined to be safe behavior (proven science, logic, reasonable hypotheses, not opinion) is what someone should do. I don't see how this can be arguable unless someone wants to do themselves in.
That is just plain old logic that applies to living on this planet.
To react with spite is illogical if sometimes momentarily satisfying.

We have a bunch of incompetent self serving barstools in this government, but as the old saying goes "revenge is a dish best served cold". Their day will come. People will not forget being treated like doormats at the next election. In the meantime we must be patient and above all be rational in our behaviour.

I would love to know how they know 10,000 people tested positive for mandella flu today?
When i do the tests and i do a lot of them, all i get is positive and negative, that pcr test and governement testing facility has never said which covid flu i have, covid flu, kung flu, mandella flu, vinda flu and yet thousand went for full labratory results yesterday and had it confirmed out of the hundreds of strains of flu and covid out there it was exactly that particular one, very clear, very clever very precisce and very suiting the government BS and not a hope in hell that its truthfull.

As for the bbc, over the last six weekends tens of thousands of people have protested in the centre of london, Birmingham, Manchers and Liverpool, every single one against the british governments handling of the covid situation and yet not once has that ever been mentioned in the main stream news channels, bbc or itv. Dont remeber a single BBC person outing Saville. Anyone mention recently that Jeramy Vine goes to court this year on a massive slander court case and criminal actions brought by the him and the BBC via the police against another person, strange that and yet people believe they get the best service from the most curroupted and twisted news channel.

You get better quality news from the toilet wall on a building site than the news at ten.
I work on building sites and the whole nonsence last year ment nothing to us site workers and it means even less now that boris has been shown to be the true hippocrit that he is.

In the meantime we must be patient and above all be rational in our behaviour.
This lot, through incompetence and self -nterest, are directly responsible for the unnecessary deaths of thousands. While other countries are locking down, BoJo dithers and doubts and he knows the GB public, on the whole, won't follow any new restrictions anyway. Whose fault is that? Yet he continues to hang on to the last vestiges of power like a drowning man clutching at a straw. What a coward!
So, patience and reason: surely reason dictates that we take to our cudgels and pitchforks and give this lot a good seeing to, doesn't it? Patience- to be measured in further needless deaths.

So forgive me if I don't quite get your drift.

Hi Leon, if you read my original post you will see i abided by the rules of lockdown one, we did not drive hundreds of miles to see anybody, also myself and wife are triple jabbed both kids are double jabbed and trying to get a third, please read posts before commenting, i am now following the leaders, by the way my in laws lived less than 2 miles away when they were alive

As a scientist who has done 1000s of PCRs, I could tell you but something tells me I'd be wasting my time. Here's a deal - to prove you're serious, you edit your post to get rid of the virus names that make you sound like a 6-year-old, and then I'll take the time to answer your question.
