The EU's drugs regulator has approved the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine for all adults.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said the AstraZeneca vaccine was about 60% effective in the trials on which it based its decision.
The move comes amid a dispute over whether AstraZeneca is breaking its vaccine delivery commitments to the EU.
The European Commission has published its contract with the Anglo-Swedish drug-maker, hoping to show a breach.
The bloc agreed to buy up to 400 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine last year.
In a press conference later on Friday, Astra-Zeneca chief executive Pascal Soriot said that while "of course there will be glitches" in manufacturing, the important thing was that the world had developed several vaccines within a year.
Mr Soriot said AstraZeneca had millions of doses ready to ship to the EU, and was working 24/7 to increase capacity.
The European Commission has now given final approval for the vaccine.

We have just authorised the @AstraZeneca vaccine on the EU market following a positive assessment by @EMA_News
I expect the company to deliver the 400 million doses as agreed. We will keep on doing all we can to secure vaccines for Europeans, our neighbours & partners worldwide

Had the jab yesterday, no major side effects, just a bit of a headache and a sore arm. A couple of 9% tripels took the edge off the headache and right as rain today.

Took my 87 year old neighbor for the Pfizer jab a few weeks ago today. She had no side effects at all.
Still waiting for her 2nd dose appointment.

My Mum, 91, has had 1st and 2nd Pfizer, no ill effects at all.
My daughter, 31, has had 1st Pfizer, rough for 2/3 days, mainly stomach. Could be unrelated.

To be honest if they phoned me today i would take whatever they had.

My sister in law is a specialist nurse / sister who deals with male cancers. In mid December she had her first Pfizer vaccine. She said that she felt rough after it and had an amount of stomach upset. She also said her arm was aching, starting almost immediately after she had it.

She got her second dose just after new year. Her arm became very heavy and she couldn‘t use it to drive home. She mad major gut rot and was confined to bed for 3 days with flu like symptoms and fatigue.

27 other staff were all taken ill after the second jab, and have been off work for a week. The NHS are monitoring side effects, and she has to report any further illness.

When I asked, given the choice, would she take the vaccine again? Her response was “Yes, In a heart beat”.

As an aside she has a colleague who is camp as a row of tents. She once heard him say to a client, as he was donning his glove and applying lubricant, “I have to warn you that this examination may cause an erection”. The client told the male nurse, “If it does then so be it, and trust me I won’t be embarrassed”. The male nurse in his campest voice replied, “I didn’t mean you”.

My sister in law says the lack of tackle stops her from using the same joke.
